He gets bagged on here when he doesn’t get the damaging runs… that’s my point.Youre saying hes good at kick chase and line speed in defence. Im saying hes also one of the most damaging runners of the ball when he choses to. Thats apparently an insult and not watching the game.
Good point re penalty. Looked like he wanted to prove a point & it showed. Noticed that he was on the sideline waiting for an age to come on. I wonder if that was Ivan's plan to get him rabid?

Kick chase and line speed is what we need from him, that’s what separates him and what we’ve built our game around.
What ever he brings in attack is a bonus, as long as he’s not burning he’s energy up doing it.
You hung in well for the first 20mins but were just outclassed. You are improving but Benji is still a worry for me.Tigers fan here. Line speed wise, that was your best performance this year. Keep that up and I think you blokes are favourites for the title again. Good luck for the rest of the year.
Every word you have said is correct. I thought we hung in well in the second half as well. That is just how good your team is.....gives away very little and strikes at the right time. We need more in the pack and I have zero confidence in Benji to take us much further. You hung in well for the first 20mins but were just outclassed. It’s not sustainable week in week out.A couple of simple questions.
Did we look a better team last night with Martin involving himself in attack?
Did our kick pressure / line speed / defence look any worse with Martin involving himself in attack?
Your kind of answering your own statements. Its not when he chooses to..
Its about conserving energy for defense. Its literally the model we have built 4 gfs off..how some people cant see this boggles my mind.
Its the reason our back 5 do sooo much heavy lifting coming out of our end. So our middles and edges can conserve energy to dominate in defence.
Martin is most certainly not one of the most damaging 2nd rowers in the comp. Far from it..
Hamole, kikau, Kolomatangi, katoa, blore, nanai, preston etc are all well ahead of him.
Hes quite small for a 2md rower.. he has good speed and power for his size and can hit a hole but the issue is if you increase his output in attack then he will be more fatigued in defence.
And atm our defence is looking premiership worthy so im not sure its a good idea to mix up the formula that has worked the last 4 years..
If ivan is prepared to play him 50mins a game im sure hes output would increase as he would know he doesnt have to leave anything in the tank.
I think the answer to both of those things are yes.A couple of simple questions.

Marto sat down when the draw came out and circled this Tigers game as the single game for the year where he'd play with his rep/finals game intensity and actually run a few lines. This one was the big one for him. In totally unrelated scenes he was marching up and down the sideline getting visibly angrier by the second just because, it certainly didn't motivate him to fire.A couple of simple questions.

A game of deja vu. It was like watching the Panthers of the last four seasons. Relentless defence, energy for the full 80 minutes and playing comfortably within themselves. A couple of points:
- Dylan Edwards was superb with 322m. That said, he probably jogged home after the game to get a proper workout. He had a 165m of kick returns. Why? I would like to say he was mercurial, elusive, a "Wil of the wisp", covered in spiders, but the truth is the Tigers kick chase would have to be the laziest in the NRL. Jarome continually kicked really deep and the Tigers players continually watched with pride at his kicking prowess and then decided to jog up and have a tackle. It showed a complete lack of effort by the players, or, they haven't practised it, or both. Either way, it was awful.
- To'o still looks half fit to me. Give him a spell please Ivan. We need him in peak form for the finals. I know he ran for 187m and had 5 tackle breaks, but he just doesn't seem to be at full throttle.
- I thought Jerome looked miserable. Has anybody got any inside knowledge as to whether he is enjoying his time at the Tigers?
- What a cracking player Tito is. I know he was shaded by Dyl, but he tried his guts out. If only the rest of the team had his heart.
- It is some sort of effort when you provide three try assists and a perfect kicking performance and then get accused of having a quiet game. I was impressed by Cleary's ability to get the job done with minimum of fuss. I was happy to see him make a break and show a bit of speed before passing to Dyl. Hopefully the hamstring is good for the rest of the season.
- If we win the GF then we can probably say that Ivan judged the off season workload perfectly. But when you watch this performance I can't help thinking the team was way underdone at the start of the year. Sure, the new players have to learn the defensive patterns and the problem on the edges would still have been there, but we were just not fit enough at the start of the year. That lead to more injuries, poor performances and 20 plus points a game conceded. I hope Ivan proves me wrong and we line up trophy number 5 in the Panther's foyer.
- Random thoughts. I love Lindsay Smith's footwork, he has improved 100% from the start of the season. Patea and Henry make an awesome bench pairing for prop rotation. The Milky/McLean combo gives us something we haven't had before even with Critta, height and speed out wide. Previously, our wingers have been a succession of slow Hobbits and we have done well not to let teams exploit that.
