Totally disagree. If the distraction is caused by people on the field, that is unnecessary for Campbell's distraction to be cause by people who should know better (ex the trainer). Off field distractions will ALWAYS happen and players are pretty darn good at phasing them out.

I think he probably phased this out too. It's just that it was a difficult kick and he missed it. Otherwise he doesn't have the right temerament to be a goalkicker.

Tago: worst on ground, 3 tries conceded while he was off and was poor before that
Cleary: ridiculous field goal, up there as one if the best ever
Yeo: hope he’s ok, missed him big time in the 2nd half
Jenkins, Blaize, McLean: great games, that left hand side is humming
Titans: great comeback, Campbell is probably my favourite non-Panthers player
Overall: disappointing, take the 2 points and move on

He should not have had to deal with an opposition trainer being a dick in the first place. There needs to be an on-field penalty for this type of incident in the future.

That’s right all try’s are reviewed by the bunker.you often see players on feild talk to ref and he says they will review it.So for me I don’t blame the ref he is forced to say try no try .Why not let them if not sure refer to bunker as there looking at it anyway.

50k was for repeated breaches by trainers not just this one, the fact there are repeated breaches makes it pretty obvious they are being directed to do what they can to gain us an advantage, probably by or at least with Ivans approval.

If you take the anti penrith media and fan outrage out of it and just look at the incident, it was a slightly more blatant incident then things that happen every week in the nrl. Every teams coaches, players, trainers, ball boys and fans in the stadium and doing everything they can to get an advantage for their team. If their trainer did it to Nathan would their be half as much outrage or coverage in the media? f**k no.

Personally id much happier if we sacked a trainer who wasnt willing to run in front of a kicker then sack one for doing it.

He had the exact same opportunity to kick it. He is a 75% kicker though and the majority of the missed kicks would be near the sideline.

These guys can put in pintpoint kicks while having players charge the ball down. Tackle them or atleast run toward them etc. with almost no preparation time.

Cleary kicked a 40m field goal with a player running directly toward him. Yet a trainer running past Campbell before he has even taken a step towards the ball makes a noticeable difference to his odds?

Paul Gallen had one of the most sensible views of it. Phil Gould rightfully said its a nothing incident. He asked Nico Hynes if it would have bothered him. He laughed and said no he would have just started his process again.

Titans had 7 penalties that half, scored 3 tries against 12 men and had a chance to go 4 ahead near the end and decided that a 4 point lead wasn’t necessary. But its the trainers fault for delaying a kick by a couple seconds. Nevermind kickers are conditioned to stand and wait now because the bunker can take minutes to confirm a try.

The interesting thing is there is a rule if player walks in front it is a penalty why not just tweak that to include trainers with the penalty in front.that would stop it ever happening again

No one is saying the trainer should be allowed to run in front of him. I think everyone can agree some kind of punishment or sanction is warranted and perhaps a rule change to prevent it going forward, IE retake the kick or move it in front.

All that being said, The trainer is not the reason Campbell missed, he is just another distraction in a stadium full of distractions. He shouldnt of ran in front, but if JC was distracted or put off he had every opportunity to resent and refocus and take the kick like every other kicker in the nrl would have done, At the end of the day he missed, Nath nailed a much harder one to tie it up and the rest is history,

As a girl dad, I feel gross saying this, but its true. Kasey is absolutely a diversity hire.

I went through the junior rep pathways at the same time as Kasey. We trained together twice a week, and sometimes reffed together on weekends. And she was always given special treatment.

I remember one night, we did the beep test. It was my first training run after a groin injury. I fell short of the 'minimum target' by 2 or 3 reps. As a result, I got put on an individual fitness plan, and I didn't get to touch my whistle for the entire season, I just ran sidelines.

Kasey dropped out of the beep test about 9 or 10 reps before me, given a "good job", and reffed every round of the SG Ball season. Should be noted that she was already very close to Gavin Badger at this stage too, so maybe it's less a gender thing, and more Gavin looking after his girlfriend.

Either way, it was obvious to everyone in that squad that she was gonna go as far as she wanted to, because at the time it's a good news story for the NRL.
