Every other team's "defense is rock solid. No improvement needed."

Well there is nothing wrong with a plan. End goal is to be the best and not rely on luck. So I look at our side and say how can we be no 1. I think we can. Why not?
Our kick games excellent. Our attack MUST offload against better sides and works. We have great offloaded in the side.
Our mentality looks strong. Forwards roll well. Halves seem more patient.

So what do we need to do? For me backs take more hit ups
Sort out the edge defense.. A bonus would be a hooker who is dangerous with the run game. Hopefully that's MA

We don't really have better forwards then Penrith or Canberra do we? Very good packs. I'd say we can match theirs.
No ours are definitely better. Penrith's are very good in defence but poor in attack. As you say, their outside backs take up the slack for them. Canberra's forwards are also good but their bench isn't even close to ours.

Yeo > Hopgood
Martin > Lane
Leota/JFH have fast legs speed and play the balls. Our bench better

Any side with pace can do that to any other side in a lot of cases.
Roosters with Dom Young did the other night what Newcastle did when they had Dom Young last year.

Yes, our defence on our left edge is super shit at times, but not always.
Seems to me the structure we have is for the winger to jam in on the opposing centre and for our centre, Gutho and Moses/Dylan to slide across and use the sideline as a defender. This helps if the edge forward is able to cover the 3-in man.

This is working on our right because Russel is getting his reads right and has the pace to get in there, Penisini is covering the winger and Cartwright is working hard on his edge. Sometimes it doesnt work and Russel misses his mark and they score on our right hand side.

Our left hand defence has missed its mark a few more times than the right edge, but it does work lots of times too. In fact Sivo is on the sideline again at the moment not for tackling his opposing winger too hard, but for hitting the 2-in player by coming in hard and fast. If Lane can hold his opposition and help cover the 3-in player on that side, then the defence works.

If we were getting burnt everytime then the scores would be a lot worse than they are wouldnt they?
Especially given our starting left winger has been unavailable for all three games and our starting left centre has missed almost two games (and worst of all, had to be replaced shortly after kickoff with no dedicated outside back available to cover him).

Yeo is one of the top forwards in the game. Martin just benefits from playing out wide in a great team. If he was such a good player he would have gotten better offers and signed elsewhere.

The middle forwards are very mobile but don't trouble anyone in attack. Leota can hit a gap, weird skill for a prop but it's not like they need him to go forward against fired up middle defences. Fisher-Harris makes a lot of runs for not many metres per carry.

I think Lussick will get better in that regard as the year rolls on.

My concern would be defense. Even when we had large amounts of the ball they found holes and ripped us up. And not just outside but also in the middle.
We played great don't get me wrong but I wouldn't backcus to beat them at Brookvale.
They still managed 6 linebreaks to our 4.And ours where close to the line jobs. The way sides shred our edges is a huge concern.
The Dogs did it twice for two tries and bar a poor option the the halfback it would of been 3 times . And it isn't like they had much ball or chances.
Defense wins matches. Need to sort it cause at the moment once a side gets inside our 20 we look f**ked

I'm thinking that the forwards must have one eye on the fact that we have no left-side backline in defence (currently). That must be a distraction.

Oh, well. It's all irrelevant now. Just heard Mitch Moses is out for 6 to 12 weeks with a broken foot. Season over.

I was at the game. First time I’ve been in about 18 months.
The club is doing a good job with the game day experience.
The stadium looks great. The city is looking great. When the trams open (what’s the hold up?), it’s going to be even better.

If it’s the lower end of that I’m not too worried. In the next 6 the only team we play away from home that’s a top 8 team is Manly again

Probably Browny thinking "How has that dumb merkin still got a job"
Browny was probably thinking how he can still make it back to Long Bay to visit Jarryd Cheesburger for some prison lovin’.

Pretty easy to keep a job if you stay out of jail.

Yep. Teams need to start practicing these plays more. They just neglect them and practice wrestling instead.
It’s like bowlers who don’t spent any time on getting no balls right.
