You said his work rate was Herculean...
It was. 31 tackles in 35 minutes is massive.
I don't understand the game?? You're the one who thought Liam martin was being carried by his team mates. Maybe you should look a little further than the stat sheet.
If you think Hopgood’s 7 carries in 35 minutes was poor, you’re going to hate seeing how many runs Martin usually makes.

Well obviously he’s a dud as he didn’t play NRL until he as close to 23, obviously the Penrith officials had no idea given they didn’t pick him at 20 to play his aggressive styke 8n first grade.

Hopgood played NSW cup at 20. The stat remains relevant, playing reserves by 20 is a good indication of future NRL potential.

And he made his NRL debut 5 days after his 22nd birthday.

We haven’t made the semis since Hopgood came to the club.

He’s not a dud but he is a fairly late bloomer and I don’t expect a high ceiling for him. Do you?

I thought Hopgood was very good in attack when he first started with the club in 2023. However he did have some defensive problems, getting lazy and missing tackles.

Last year he was injured for half the year.

This year he has started horribly in attack but seems to have fixed up his defensive issues.

He needs to get it right so that he’s doing both well. Can’t write him off just yet, but we’re almost at the point where the team is better off not having him pass the ball or run and just tackle his f**ken head off. But I hope by the end of the year they’ll have figured it out.

I can’t see him getting a reprieve from the shit list. He is a very limited player with a low skill set and he does everything slowly. He’s basically a poor man’s Jake Trbojević.

I don't think his workrate was poor, I just didn't agree with your claim he needed a rest for his Herculean efforts.

I quite like hopgood, but I'm not going to pretend he's not out of form. Those passes to Morretti and Paulo were shockers and lead to turn overs. All I said was his high defensive workrate wasn't a good thing cause he contributed to the opposition having possession through his lack of discipline.

Ryan matterson also had a couple of shockers.

Turn overs happen, but throwing shit passes that lead to turn overs on the second tackle of the game is inexcusable.
