I actually thought the dragons were good in the conditions

their kicking game was outstanding. How many times was gutho returning it from our 10 .... and their wingers were great - hard runs in the conditions, especially pierera

I thought we made them look really good because we literally looked like we were trying to do as little as possible to win the game.

Seemed they thought they could win only on defence alone, looked like they weren’t even interested in attacking in the slightest.

Whether it was because of the tough conditions last week, short turn around, then wet conditions again and their minds on next week i don’t know but it won’t fly next week that’s for sure!

Gutherson is pretty good at quick scoots out of dummy half off quick play the balls. He would have made a lot of those runs coming out of our own end to help the forwards out. I can’t place any blame on him for tonight’s result. I find it bizarre that anyone could even call it a factor. Latrell Mitchell gets criticised for not doing the exact same thing.
Will I did say you can't criticise his effort. Ten runs is bad, twenty runs is good. Thirty runs is Gallen Origin territory.

Id surely hope that our Footy Club CEO, Board and Head of Football can see exactly what we as fans see. Our position on the ladder belies the way we play. Its true that good teams win tight games but the issue remains that good teams shouldnt continually have tight games. Our roster is sublime. The roster is also 99.9% fit and healthy. No excuses.
BA is our coach for this and a further 2 years but that doesn't mean our support team isnt tweaked. Our game plan is based on 100% energy and the hope we can tire the opposition. Teams have worked us out even the teams with "lousy coaches". We opened recruitment, retention and contract negotiations to a committee given how poor we were previously having one person in control. Hopefully the support staff are subject to such a process and not one bloke who wants "stability". Im starting to question if said stability is the problem. Even the players look bored with style we play.

Our defence has finally been fixed (besides Sivo) but our attack definitely sucks massive arse.

Someone mentioned employing Jason Taylor as an assistant coach. That wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Our middle defence is good but our edges are still an issue. The right side of Moses Blake and Fergo are not on the same page. Over on the left Sivo is all at sea and Jennings is missing as many tackles as Sandow at times.

Does he kill the attack when he runs a high volume amount? I wouldn’t say so. If he was such a ball hog then he wouldn’t be fifth in the NRL for try assists.

That short kick was crap. Straight into the opposition legs and then he knocked it on . Moses has been giving it to Mahoney a lot lately inside the opposition 20. Mahoney's decision making and execution is piss poor close to the line. Moses doesn’t always get the execution right but at least he usually makes decent decisions.
In our last 4 games we have scored 9 tries that started within the oppositions 20.
Of those, Mitch has been involved in 3 although in 2 of them his involvement was scoring the try. 1 when he came off a Paulo pass 2 metres out (against the Dogs) and 1 where he chipped and chased for himself against the Tigers. His only other involvement was a short kick through for Gutho to score against the Dogs.
With such little successful options from our #1 attacking organiser inside the opposition 20, do you blame Reed for at least having a f**ken go?

Reed isn’t any good at it. He has only 2 try assists all year. And besides those 2 try assists has not put one bloke through a hole the whole year. He has thrown plenty of shit crash balls and poor short kicks though.

I never mentioned whether Reed was good at it or not, only that when the number 7 isn't doing it, can you blame him for having a go.

And for the record, our number 7 has managed 3 try assists all year, our number 6 has 5 and our number 1 has 11. So of our spine, Guth has more try assists than the rest combined.... mmm.

Probably due to the mistakes in wet weather footy, BA gave them a gameplan of just hitting it up, kick deep, etc, etc.

KEvans was trying to offload willy nilly and I am guessing that BA probably though that was a bit risky and got him off which i agree.

But when we needed points, he brought him back on.

Well last night he made 30 runs and zero try assists. My point is last night he ran too much.

Personally I would expect that only players that are good at play making stick to play making. And if those players are calling for the ball on the attack, they should get the ball.

Lol you always say champion data have the most reliable stats...until this one time where they don’t suit.
No they're still the most reliable. They're just not perfect.
Gutho had 14 kick returns, 3 dummy half runs and 1 run where he scored a try. Which of the remaining runs screwed up our attack?
Actually some of the kick returns could've been handed off to a winger, and all of the dummy half runs could've been a pass to a more dangerous runner. It's about opportunity cost.

1) One out crap inside our own half;
2) Boring, predictable crap inside the opposition 20;
3) Sivo needs to go, Blake needs to go, N. Brown is close, as is Jennings (but you can't drop too many at once) - play Dunster and Taka in the 3/4s next week.

We still have, I think, the best forward pack in the comp. We kill the total metres gained every week. The problem is, we offer nothing but hard running. No multiple lines, no choices for the defensive line, no deception with the ball, no unexpected movements wide, and we've basically stopped the offloads (which were our greatest threat).

Still got heaps of talent, but we've become boring and predictable. And we're getting what we deserve.
Offloads are a risky play, and hard working defences can make it even riskier. We made plenty against the Dogs but they kept getting defenders up amongst our support players.

The Dragons were quite ordinary to be honest, we just didn’t want it at all.

Their intensity better increase significantly next week cause the Storm won’t dish up the same garbage the Dragons dishes up last night.

A really good chance for us to get the obligatory yearly 50 point thrashing next week.......
We might've had our minds on next week a bit too soon. This is a side that will play finals. It can't be easy concentrating on beating the St George Illawarra Dragons.
