Conversely, he had a roster that was so superior that coaching didn’t matter so much. When your roster is roughly equal to or inferior to the opposition then coaching becomes a bigger factor eg Bennett, Slater.

Since Moses has been picked - we do know the chances of Hynes starting with Burton on the bench were... less than "good".

The end state doesn't tell us anything about the chances of its occurrence. For example, Souths and Canberra were both a good chance of winning this weekend but they didn't. That's how probability works.
