Well the corresponding game last year was a nightmare. I don't think today could be any worse.

Not even the free booze sitting in a Dogs corporate area felt worth it with my old boss carrying on like a pork chop rubbing it in like the Dogs had won the comp when they humiliated us last year.

Then trying to get an uber home after the game in the freezing cold. One of the darkest days in a long time.

Try driving home from a wedding in 1998, with a Dogs fan in the back seat, and the semi-final playing on the radio.

Every Eels game is tough. We seem to roll that way.

I just don’t see the Dogs putting a score on us. We’ll win in the usual manner. There will be an arm wrestle. Pretty even at oranges and we will pull away in the last 15 or so. Clunky win, again.

I am thankful i wasn't old enough to remember that game.

My first ever memory of the Eels was at the Double header at the olympic stadium opening when we played the Dragons the following year I think was 1999 sitting with Mum and Dad up the top behind the goal post.

I think i dodged a massive bullet and further PTSD not being old enough to remember 1998.

What a nightmare that was

They were travelling poorly, we were unbeatable favorites

Personally I think we will be fine, next game worries me though. 5 day turnaround v Manly and (potentially) Jakob Arthur. Ill be in a corporate box (organised by a manly mate), lets hope its the reverse of what you went through

My birthday is on Saturday so i hope we don't get flogged next week. Otherwise it wont be a great day.

I have been excited for 9 months once the draw came out thinking its going to be a great birthday we are going to bash a depleted Manly at home without there stars now its possible we are going to be worse off then them.

Even the club were thinking the same way as they have organised old boys day next week and have a big celebration of the 1980s premiership teams.

I was originally going to be in the box next week but Dad has gone away so I upgraded & have taken his Cumberland lounge tickets for the game better seats there around halfway.

This match is really pivotal for the remainder of the season.

By rights, all things being equal, and if we're fair dinkum, we should win and win well today.

If we win today, then we're only one win behind the team with the fourth amount of wins and the same wins as the team who has the seventh most wins (essentially the teams really running 4th and 7th)

But, in reality, this has got monumental clusterf**k written all over it, because in all seriousness, it is just one of those seasons.

It's all very well for teams that are built around team work to have the next man up mentality, because you're just slotting a number into your system. That isn't as easy to do when all of your success comes purely from the brilliance of the individual, whose brilliance is just simply impossible to replicate by a replacement.

We haven't played for 17 days, so we should be freshened up and ready to fire...but we had the Bye in the exact same time last year and got pumped by the Dogs 34-4 at the exact same ground. We're 6 wins and 6 losses after a Bye for the last 10 years, 2 of those losses have been against the Dogs at this ground.

Losing today just isn't acceptable, they just need to get it done.
