When he plays straight our attack improves drastically

yep that’s the biggest problem with our attack at the moment and it is starting from the middle.

yeah Moses is going sideways to much but he is also getting the ball from someone also going sideways to much. Thus putting pressure on Moses to find room.

it seems our passes ( generally from the “block plays” or middles ) to push wide are to deep (Paulo / Nrown do it). We need to play more “flat” / straighter.

Also Moses is running the ball ok, he generally straightens up when he runs - but he rarely passes if he does.

He also needs to get the ball closer to the posts, think run first before feeding gutho. Drive into the line a bit before passing. The backline is getting it to close to the side line. Also it creates room for the edges to “make” decisions in some space.

Paulo/Nrown need to run straight, they are thinking pass before running. It creates no space

etc etc. etc

it’s nothing to major but think it may need an off season to fix

Also Moses needs to fix his kicking game. It’s been pretty poor.

We are improving, albeit slowly. However without a fit Dylan Brown we will struggle as teams will load up on Moses and Gutho to nullify our attack.

Maybe we will see more of Paulo as a playmaker?

BTW ridiculous charge on Jnr. Watched ch7 news and Brett Kimmorley was saying these type of tackles need to be removed from the game. I have been watching league since 1975 and could not see anything deliberate or wrong in that tackle.

I thought the intent of the NRL crackdown was to get rid of players holding up the player in the tackle, with a third coming in late to pull the player down backwards .

I'm a massive fan of Dylan Brown's, and his being unavailable is a huge loss.

However, we still have Mitchell Moses, Clint Gutherson, and Reed Mahoney - all are creative players, with different strengths.

Mahoney, in particular, is gaining confidence kicking close to the line, and some of his balls to put players into space, and score tries, would have made Cam Smith proud.

Mahoney has also been engaging the markers a lot more lately, creating time, and space, for his team.

Given that Moses, Gutherson, and Mahoney are all available, and they are ably supported by playmaking forwards in Junior Paulo, Nathan Brown, and Ryan Matterson, I reckon Jai Field is a competent 6 to have in the side.

I would still have Smith on the bench, though - I think he has been outstanding the last two weeks.

Against Brisbane, in particular, he made some huge plays - that chargedown, as well as some astute runs out of dummy-half to create some space for his halves.

I would be happy to retain his services, he's been that good, imo.

I can see how the onus should be on the defender to make sure those injuries don't happen. It obviously wasn't intentional (I reckon foul play almost never is) but it could be said to have been careless.

When Drown f**ked his ankle Adam Reynolds was looking at his foot while he dropped his body weight onto it. That looked far worse and should've been reviewed by the MRC.
There's a reason it was not referred to MRC, he wasn't playing for Parra! Paulo's will go to MRC, guaranteed, even tho commentators reckon it shouldn't.

I still dont get it. This is not a Storm-like judo move that Jnr went in with. Jnr just tackled him at the hips. Contest it. We have until midday today to lodge our plea.

I'd retain Smith too if I were the decision maker. Unfortunately it may squeeze out someone else. If only we had a Chook's salary sombrero.

Maybe go

6 matto
8 rcg
9 rheed
10 ke
11 davey
12 lane
13 nrown

14 ws
15 niks
16 oro
17 junz

I like that bench. Oro is moulding into a player like niks. Gives junz more freedom to do other stuff

He should fight it so he has no carryover points heading into the finals. We'll probably still beat the Tigers without him and even if we don't we might still make the top four if Canberra shit the bed.

And if we finish 5th we get a home final in week one against an easy team, just like last year.

I don’t hate that 17, but I’d even consider Taka or Salmon in the halves.

I think Sivo has to change his running style when he is hitting it out. It doesn't matter that he is big and fast when he runs in to 3 blokes
