Just watched the BA presser, he said Will and Jake on the edge has less than 20 games between them.

That got me thinking, he should've switched Oppa and Will.

Or even maybe switched Oppa and Dyl with Will and JA.

Hopefully he swaps someone in that edge next week (Guth at centre?), otherwise we'll be too predictable for Souths and they'll tear us a new one

I really don’t think changing now is the answer. Made this comment before… to have these issues this far into a season with the worst defensive record in the top 8 shows the failures of the coaching staff. It’s much bigger than Jake Arthur and Will P. It’s the whole structure that’s flawed. Teams can go around us easily and have been doing it all year.

In what way is the structure flawed?

They did. But south's will have a full analysis of this game and will devise ways to attack him

Then the mob will absolutely boo him
The mob just need reminding that Souths didn't need Jake Arthur's help shredding our edge defence the last five times they played us. Actually he did play in one of those games but the other four produced the same result. Souths have smart playmakers who know how to force us to compress and then shift the ball around us when we do. It happens regardless of who's defending in the halves. We will only limit the damage by controlling the ball. We'll need to outscore them.

Merkins might've seen the recent article about how easily we concede metres through the middle. The way we try to prevent this is by compressing. The solution for a team with smart/experienced playmakers is to shift the ball (at the right time). Manly and Souths are two such teams. Penrith and Melbourne aren't.

Yeah ball control, dominate possession, and importantly maintain our line speed to shut down the shift before it happens, or at the least ensure when the shift is on passes are made under pressure to maximise the opportunity for errors.

Every team runs a compressed defence, some are better at shutting down the shift, and or the scramble when it happens. It's not being compressed that's the problem, it's being caught on the back foot despite having a compressed defence. Winning always starts in the middle.

Parramatta five-eighth Dylan Brown had no doubt that his much maligned team mate Jakob Arthur would impress when he was called upon to replace injured Mitch Moses. Arthur impressed in the win over Manly with Brown taking on more responsibility on the halves. Brown also told Andrew Moore and the team he knew he'd have the pace to run around Sea Eagles hampered full back Reuben Garrick after he saw Clint Gutherson do the same - he reckons Gutho is the slowest full back in the NRL!

Good thinking.
What I mean is we'll probably struggle to hold Souths to fewer than their season average of 26 points per game. For our part we are conceding 22 per game. If we win this game I'd be very surprised if the score wasn't similar to the Manly game. It's not going to be anything like 18-10.
