Sean Russell cops a bad wrap for not passing a lot but certainly in the 2nd half a lot of times JAC was covered despite it looking like a overlap. So holding the ball is the best option.

We really need an edge back rower with punch.
Was sitting directly behind these plays and you're 100% correct. The left side attack was very sideways last night, which is probably on Hawkins. The Storm had JAC covered on each of those - you can even see when he scored that his legs only stayed in because he curled them up. Moses tends to straighten as he plays it to his outside men which then straightens them up.
A Fifita/Fermor style player on that left edge would help immensely.

Kk plays on that edge. He has been a big loss, was showing some good form.

Can we possibly come up with any more nicknames for Hopgood ?

That was frustrating, as you can see there is more intensity in attack and defence, but f**k me those errors cost us against a team that we simply couldn't compete with last year.

I know it was wet and that may excuse some dropsies, but f**k me, footy is a winter sport and if you can't play those conditions then you shouldn't be put there.

Last night and the week before tells me that this team is way better than the early rounds and a much better team than where they are sitting on the ladder. If they fix up some little areas like handling errors not pushing the pass too much and being alert at marker, then they'll certainly win a lot more games next year. I feel like they have got the harder games out of the way and the rest of the games are winnable. It was disappointing last night but hey the future is looking bright.

Let’s analyse the stats from Charlie ‘give him time’ Guymer

80 min, 75m, same post contact metres as Joash (25m) who is also a pissant. 12 missed tackles with a tackle efficiency of 76.47% the worst of all our forwards.

Moretti played 25 min, made 72m.

Guymer is a registered pissant. Please go back to being an apprentice butcher in Temora and play in the local comp.

A few observations on the game

Melbourne still get away with murder in the ruck

Harry Grant has officially joined the Scam Smith club. Basically handcuffed himself to Gerard Sutton all night whinging and carrying on.

Papenhuyzen is lining up for a conversion and he was still next to the ref talking to him while the storm were in a huddle at halfway.

Dropgood or hopshit was back honestly I thought progress was made the last 2 weeks.

Defence has clearly improved but still soft moments.

Sean Russell cops a bad wrap for not passing a lot but certainly in the 2nd half a lot of times JAC was covered despite it looking like a overlap. So holding the ball is the best option.

Agreed. I dont know many times Melbourne were laying all over us and didnt get penalised or we didnt get a 6 again call. And typically Sutton gave Melbourne a soft one just before they scored. Guymer only held him down for 3 seconds and Sutton somehow pulls one out of nowhere. You wonder why people are questioning the officials.

As for Hopgood, I dont know what he tries to do half the time, being a ball player or just lack of ball security. And it crucial times too. So many times this year when it looks like theyre gathering momentum, he kills it with his handling errors.

I like Russell as a centre and so many people around me last night were carrying on for not passing to JAC half the time, I mean would they rather him run down the sideline and get bundled into touch?? And his defence is brilliant.

Good point about the edge back rower out wide, will be interesting to see who they get.

Agree 100%, wasn't his greatest defensive game. He had some good moments defensively but some pretty poor ones. But he will learn. It happens with rookies.

Regarding attack, easier for a middle forward to get involved over an edge. And a lot of times Moses isn't hitting Guymer. But he did twice for a try and another where he almost scored. He also had 3 TB. Equal most of all our players.

The kid is going ok. He is 20 years old with 12 NRL games. Give him 50 games before judging his ceiling (I predict he will be a decent NRL player at the minimum)

i did laugh when moses asked the ref how do we get the same yardage as the storm and the ref didn't understand the question as they are so used to letting them getaway with continual ball slowing techniques

Hopshould go to nsw cup for a little

I too thought Russell made some good decisions to not pass as Fox would've been pushed over the sideline.

Though I do think sometimes Russell and JAC should swap during the game so JACs gets earlier ball

And he caught the Scum player offside, just a shame Sutton as usual missed it.
I think that one Moses had run the 10 metres, that’s why I think Moses should not leave it up to the useless pricks and he should’ve try to separate from the defender if it’s unlikely they’ll put in effort to chase.

The half or the distributor needs to dig into the line...catch and pass unless there is a 2 man overlap means we are cannon fodder for the defence
It will come.
I hope we get Pezet or Averillo.
We are already have Kautoga who i think is a very good prospect...
Just need 3 or 4 top prospects and our fortunes will change.
Go after Talaikai, Mooney, Fifita
But we also need some authoritative figure who has a say in the media...

Fifita? From the Titans? f**k no !!!!!!! His best days are well behind him and he's no way value for money. Just what we don't need, his attitude with our up and comers.

I’m not sure about the brother incident because I’d likewise probably find it difficult watching a family member then hearing some drongo on sideline chip him. Probably shouldn’t be sitting with the plebs but also the plebs should take a reality check.

I understand the frustration when he throws a silly offload or misses a tackle, but the only people who average more metres are few fullbacks (who will be boosted by kick returns more than Lomax) and some one offs. This doesn’t even take into account switching to other side of field or busting his gut to challenge kicks. Lomax absolutely puts in every week and perhaps if his teammates matched his effort then he wouldn’t be as inclined to overplay his hand.
Spot on. I simply don’t understand the Lomax hate. He has had some poor moments for sure. However I think everyone underestimates the threat he poses and how opponents so heavily mark him, which allows JAC more freedom.
