We won't know for sure until we see where we finish in the semis, but I reckon BA got what he wanted from tonight.
No injuries to key players.
Young players all getting FG experience.
Bigger minutes for Cartwright, Lane, Kaufusi, Fergo and MakaMakaToaToa.
Makamaka is a revelation MJC. Love his attitude and the fact that he NEVER gives up

He’s still a shocking player. I wouldn’t pick him for any grade.
His WPYSA18 is pretty poor but he has a very good win rate for a career backup. Anyway he's almost 31 now, definitely on the decline. I wonder if he'll get a top 30 contract anywhere next year.

I’ll admit I was a bit fearful of a record defeat and I don’t mean any disrespect to the guys playing tonight, but it was always going to be a massive ask staying with them.

They really played their guts out tonight. I was proud of them at half time and I’m equally proud of them now.

Oregon played great before he got hurt, Maka played a touch over 60 mins due to HIAs and never stopped trying, Stone put on some massive tackles.

They can certainly hold their heads up.

Great effort by the lads, Penrith didn't take their foot of the pedal either.

Stone,Makatoa,Rodwell and Kaufusi really had a crack. Shame about losing him at half time. Russell looks a player IMO.
So disappointed tonight for Hipgrave Hiney. I rate him

I wouldn’t be re-signing Ferguson after seeing these youngsters. Plenty of quality there that you can use Fergo’s money to upgrade their contracts.
Give them another full-preseason and I reckon a few of them will be keeping the pressure on the top squad in 2022.

Hmmm. Half time margin was good, effort was there -was always going to be hard for so many of the fill-ins to last big minutes/80 minutes. Final score probably to expectations.

Good game Will Smith, earned his bench spot for the finals. Jury's out on Cartwright - he'd only make my 17 next week due to our injuries etc. A few guys showed promise for keeping next year, and a few probably showed they're expendible if someone else comes off contract/onto the radar at a similar price.

Finishing 6th is a pretty good outcome - bring on the Knights, and our A-team can smash them next week!

I second your thoughts. Stone has a beautiful defensive technique, Makamaka has a dig, Rodwell looks like a future NRL player and Kafusi is playing NRL and still on an upward trajectory.
Russells body shape looks like he might be our next number 1 in a few years. I’m excited.
And seeing our boys on the sideline being rested . There is a lot of quality about this squad.
The window will be in site for a few years yet.

The game pretty much went as expected. We stayed with them for as long as possible but injuries, inexperience and lack of match fitness on top of Penrith being a class side made it too big an ask.

I'm wondering if we had beaten a Panthers side by 40 that ended with 11 players from the 13 that wouldn't be in the top side out there, would there be such a carry on by the media.

Well I'm quite happy with that performance considering what they were up against. Against a top side full of first graders and we had virtually an inexperienced team and had 15 players for half a game, and some of the players in the team tonight hadnt played since June. Amazing effort and the performances from some of the young guys were great. Particularly Rodwell. What a debut. And the other debutantes did well. I couldnt be more proud of them. I'm also so proud of Will Smith. First game as captain, really dug in and tried his best. It shows you the effort of some of the players with little FG matches, Makatoa, Stone, Dunster, all had great games, and yet some of the more experienced had poor matches.

Anyway bring on the finals.
