Alvaro isn't much use when we've got all the ball. Two games in a row we've had over 60% possession.

As for Payne Haas, I reckon he's already the best forward in the game. Taumalolo is a bit better in attack but Haas is a quality defender as well. Taumalolo is a liability without the ball.

Alvaro will at best get a low ball 1 yr deal. He is fine as a benchy.
Just Hollis,Kafusi and there is another who name slips me could all be doing his job.

I reckon Niukore should've come with him. It's the responsibility of the inside defender to keep up with the outside man.
Not always. It’s communication from the line leader (probably Matto) and Decore’s awareness.
Matto f**ked up by focusing on Haas, Decore f**ked up by not keeping in line and Gunco f**ked up by doing whatever he did there.

I reckon that game showed that the new ruling on six again could well turn one of our perceived weaknesses ( the lack of wrestle in the ruck ) into a strength.

We have been risk averse in the ruck for a few seasons now, with the focus on not giving away penalties, rather than controlling the ruck, that looks to me like it has put us in a good place to quickly adapt to the six again.

I'll admit I thought it'd probably hurt us, but that doesn't look like the case, the roll-on we got in those first 15 minutes or so really told in being able to take Brisbane apart in the second half, the speed of the game is gonna obviously suit possession, and literally giving away a 9 - 12 tackle set without the break to reset defence and grab some air looks a lot more costly than conceding a penalty kick for opposition to walk downfield.

Will watch the likes of the Roosters and Storm, to see how that'll work for squads who really dominate the ruck with wrestle and in the past were more than willing to concede a penalty to reset the defence.

Reminded me of 2001 when the unlimited interchange made us one of the most devastating attacking teams in history. As long as we are disciplined we will relentlessly tire teams to the point of exhaustion and the flood gates will inevitably open.

Even when the Knights beat us in the GF had the game gone 5 min more we would have pegged then back and defeated them that’s how good our attack was.

I think 2001 was limited interchange (12). We killed it that year because we played dump and run from dummy half after submitting to surrender tackles to get a quick play the ball.

How,painful is Kevin Walters commentating on a Broncos game. Coupled with Alexander's bias, it sounded like the Eels were lucky etc , Vossy is at least honest.

Walters never sees a Broncoos knock on or forward pass , but makes calls that the other side gets favoured. He is a knobhead when the Broncos are losing.

He and every other QLDer should be permanently banned from ever commentating on QLD games. Especially Broncos ones. Terrible commentating from him again last night. When will the producers ever learn that having bias callers detracts heavily from the viewing experience. If they want to cater for the 2 head audience, then have a red button option for an alternative all 2 head calling team channel for them. But spare the rest of us from that pitiful nonsense shit.

This is spot on. I quietly thought that we would be beneficiaries, but was waiting to see how the 1 ref would go in policing it. The game was a breath of fresh air. But we need to remember that we are also a very big team, so if we do get a run of six again penalties against us, we will be goneskies fairly quickly.

This new rule will benefit Ray Stone a hell of a lot. I didn't think he would be a long time NRL player before due to his modest size and ferocious application to the game, but now if the arsehole coaches don't stuff the game up again with some counter negative tactic to regain control again, this boy will find it much easier to poke his nose through tiring defenses and dominate in making tackles too. I think he had his most direct and purposeful game yet due to so many fatiguing palookas out there. Which is what the game should be about, not just the giants who come on for 20-30 mins and generally crush players like him.

Also, we squandered to many opportunities out there last night due to not attacking the middle more in the correct way. We kept going laterally to much without doing the hard yards in the middle first. Many times when we did attack the middle, especially when closer to their line, we didn't do it with speed and venom. It isn't just a matter of hitting it up the middle, it needs to be done with speed, power and footwork, and the occasional short pass to another middle runner off your shoulder, then when the defense has compressed to absorb the relentless onslaught, the playmakers quickly count the numbers on either side and see which way the ball should fly out to take advantage of the stripped numbers.

But over all it was a great return first hit up performance from the boys and I'm sure BA will address their lack of purpose up the middle at times last night.

Go Parra!!!

compared to the first two games, last nite was just stunning. luving the post try celebrations as well. and the defensive line was running up without nbrown leading the way. maybe we have finally arrived as a true team performer

Just wanted to point out to anyone who wants the video ref gone you only need to watch the first try to Niukore.
Ref calls no try when it is perfectly clear he grounded it well. Would have been a disastrous decision.

I expect more video ref calls with one less official on field

Matteson had to focus on Haas and leave Croft for Niukore. The alternative was to square up on Croft and leave Haas running at Moses.

There was also no surrender tackle rule, meaning we could get a quick play-the-ball whenever we wanted by diving at the opposition's feet.

while I think its pretty exciting that we're on top with a good percentage (I'm sure @hineyrulz is excited too), we haven't really beaten any on yet

if we can compete with the likes of the Chooks, Bunnies, Storm then we'll know where we are
