Matteson had to focus on Haas and leave Croft for Niukore. The alternative was to square up on Croft and leave Haas running at Moses.
I meant only focusing on Haas. He’s got to have some awareness of the guy who actually has the ball. I’ll change it - his probable f**k up (although it could even be Moses’s’s) is communicating rushing the line up to Decore. Matto did the right thing rushing up, it meant their only options were for someone to take the dump hoping for a shit tackle or to throw a miracle pass. But as a team we f**ked up by leaving a gaping hole for Croft to stroll over

while I think its pretty exciting that we're on top with a good percentage (I'm sure @hineyrulz is excited too), we haven't really beaten any on yet

if we can compete with the likes of the Chooks, Bunnies, Storm then we'll know where we are

That's true.

But we can only play the team that we are scheduled to play.

And besides - winning big against mediocre teams builds confidence, and combinations, if nothing else - we will get a lot out of the first three rounds.

Bunnies? You mean the same Bunnies that the Broncos easily beat?

They'll struggle to make the Top 8, so will Broncos

Reminded me of 2001 when the unlimited interchange made us one of the most devastating attacking teams in history. As long as we are disciplined we will relentlessly tire teams to the point of exhaustion and the flood gates will inevitably open.

Even when the Knights beat us in the GF had the game gone 5 min more we would have pegged then back and defeated them that’s how good our attack was.
If Andrew Ryan doesn't get held up at 18 nil we win that game.

Mick Vella was a god under that rule, and Brad Drew played like Damien Cook. Nek Minnett rule changes in 2002, gang tackling annnnnnnnnnnnnnd it's gone :(

Our shiny new halves pairing turning out to be gutless wonders didn't help either.

Adam Dykes started pining for Cronulla 17 seconds after he left and never showed up, and Andrew McFadden suddenly discovered he'd coach the Warriors one day and played accordingly

Great performance, gee how good is it to have Rugby League. Add to that we win the first game when the NRL returns with the whole world watching.

Its like we didn't stop playing or training for those 2 months. For a lot of players it would've been quite difficult to maintain the fitness and training but gee our blokes look super fit and strong.

Mahoney is so gutsy, taking on the big forwards and putting pressure on the kickers.

Our backrow is one of the best with Laine and Matterson troubling players out wide with the offloads.

Brown/Moses combination keeps getting better.

Jennings played brilliant.

I'm glad we sorted out the Broncs, they are so overhyped.

Finally got to watch the replay of the game tonight.

Imo:

* RCG was immense - he set the early tone in defence, and kept coming back for hard runs

* Paulo was tremendous; made dents all night, and his offloads tired the Broncos out

* Gutho was his usual tireless self; I thought he was inspirational

* Ryan Matterson will be season 2020's best signing; he is pure class. What a player!

* Evans was very, very strong off the bench.

* Stone looked sharp

* Dylan Brown is a special, special talent. He will be the game's best half in a season, or two. I have that much faith in him.

I don't think there was a poor player out there.

What really pleased me, though, is that we seemed to stock solid to our game plan - run hatd up the guts, throw offloads, and short passes to tire them out, and then spin it wide.

Imo, we looked fit, professional, and patient. I was quite impressed - and I still think we have loads of improvement left.

Dykes was also great under that rule in 2001. In 2002 he joined Parra and the game no longer suited him. Much like Sandow's shoulder charge and Adam Ritson's brain cyst.

He could have focused on him while not getting too far out of the defensive line
There were three defenders outside Matterson and five attackers outside Croft. Matterson had to get up quickly (as did all of our edge defenders) to stop the ball getting out to the overlap.
