Obviously that is unsupportable - but I love how you take the other extreme where no one is accountable for the fact that we only have 3 or 4 players up to the standard of this competition, that is of course a much more reasonable position
You seem to have missed the sarcasm there, mate. But hey, if we’re handing out false extremes today, I guess I’ll go polish my resume for CEO.

And I didn't say we only had 3 or 4 players up to the standard of this competition. Is comprehension not your strong point?

He gave up the opportunity to trigger his PO, because he chose to pursue a new contract with us instead.

True, no disagreement there.

Brown is the only one to not trigger his PO and sign a new contract elsewhere. It doesn't mean he's the only one to not trigger/decline/give up his PO.
No, Drown actually had another PO waiting if he had activated the one he just declined. But he gave it up by declining to activate the current PO. Moses also declined to activate his PO but it didn't include a future one (which he would have given up by declining to activate the current one).

And lots of them nearly got the Wooden Spoon 7 months ago. How many do you think would make the top 17 of any other club tomorrow?
Are you comparing the worst players in our top 17 with the best players in other clubs' top 17s or the best players in our top 17 with the worst players in the top 17 at other clubs? The majority of top 17 players across the NRL are at about the same level. There's no good reason to replace one with another so of course most of our players wouldn't improve our rivals. The counterpoint is that I don't think most current top 17 players would improve us either. Sure the stars at every club would walk into our team (we could move Drown to centre to make room for another half, for example), but the same could be said for fitting Lomax, Drown, Moses and Hopgood into other teams.

We do have a couple of spots that could be easily improved by top 17 players at most clubs though. It's no secret we are below par at edge forward and hooker.

My comparison has been (a few times now) that there are only 3 or 4 players in our top 17 that any other club would replace one of their existing top 17 players with.

Based on last nights Raiders team, there are 8 maybe 9 players who improve us straight away.
Where does this team finish in the comp?

So how about them Eels huh??

Was away all weekend and missed the game, it sounds like it wasn’t very exciting!!
Onwards and upwards. No need to look back. You will only dissapoint urself.
Unless you want to see standard operating procedure in full effect...
This season is the gift that keeps on giving

I was away as well.

Half watching it at the pub i just tuned out 30 mins in they looked like they didn't care.

Me and my mates were more interested in watching our cheeky $5 bets on the dogs at wentworth Park, or the horses at Senonnnes and Turffontein in South Africa.

When your more interested in tuning into the horses at France on a goat track instead of the footy things are in dire straits.

What happens when other teams lose their origin players or are decimated by injury? Did you see what the Roosters did, what Melbourne constantly do? Even the Dragons who we were lucky to beat with their dad’s army team can lift.

Roosters and dragons only have 1 more win than us....and neither have had injuries to key "leadership" players.

For example the Roosters, yes have had some injuries but they still have been able to keep their main leadership players on the field, Teddy, Crichton, Watson, all who played origin last year. And Radley.....let's see how the roosters go without Teddy ...and Crichton...

While what injuries have the Dragons had? You would hope they wouId lift, with the experience they have. They have had Cook/Gutho/Holmes on the field all season ......that's a lot of leadership...

It's not so much the injuries, yes I agree it should be next man up, but if you are trying to blood rookies to regenerate your squad, you hope to keep your key experienced players on the field. Williams, Lomax, Moses, are all pretty much our main leadership group along with Hopgood/Paulo. They are 3 big injuries for us...

Tbf, we have had the worst draw in regards to day games in extreme heat....I know it affects both teams, but we have copped it consecutively. Add the brown distraction where you can see that the team was shell shocked from the first game of the season, and also add the horrendous injury toll.....I just can't blame ryles yet. I can honestly see the green shoots. We don't look so flimsy on the edges in defence like the previous seasons. And you can see the wrestle in slowing down the play the ball, but obviously it's gonna take time to perfect....

I am giving ryles 2 seasons before I spew forth my hatred
You might not have to (spew forth your wrath).

We don’t appear less flimsy on the edge because now teams can stroll straight through the middle. We have the worst defence in years. 34 points a game. It’s embarrassing.

Yes, both great examples of how declining to activate a PO is giving it up, whether you sign a new contract with better conditions for us, or elsewhere.
