Manly are flat track bullies there record against top 4 teams is horrible. And when they get beat its usually a smash up.

You could say there only scalp last year was beating up on us twice.

They thrashed the chooks in the semi but the chooks were busted by then and were ready for the off-season.

They were weaker against Manly in the semis then against us in round 20 when we played them

Missing were Manu, Verills, SST who played against us werent in the semi finals against manly.

Ben marscke was dummy half for the semi final with Lachlam Lam and hutcheson in the halves.

Sam Walker was on the bench for the finals and started at halfback against us.

We also had no halfback and JA running the show giving away 7 tackle sets everytime we got near the tryline. Everyone realising he was out his of the depth.

RCG did his ankle after 5 mins.

And it was the game where we just imploded.

What are you on about? We played our worst finals game against the Storm the week after that win, which directly supports my point. Why would you pick that example when trying to refute me?

It makes no sense because we don’t have all the information. We only see the end result. The point is don’t jump to conclusions and demand a scapegoat.

For mine that period showed me the importance of RCG to our defence. Does that mean it’s his fault for not being there? Was it his replacement’s fault for not being as good? Not everything needs a scapegoat. Sometimes a single thing missing makes a big difference despite efforts to compensate for it. Do you think Bellamy didn’t know Smith would be a big loss prior to the 2008 grand final? I’m sure they planned to cover for it, and didn’t intend to collapse against Manly. Sometimes shit just goes wrong on the day and the team never gets the chance to recover.

How else do you explain that scoreline? If a team concedes 28 points they didn’t have a go. If they score zero their opponents were definitely having a go.

As for why we didn’t have a go, everyone has a theory. But the correct answer is we don’t know.

Obviously teams get flogged in the finals. That Broncos team wasn’t the first or the last. But complacency isn’t the only reason teams don’t turn up. Sometimes they’re overwhelmed and their confidence gets shattered. Like I said, we don’t know the reasons. We can only see what happens on the field.
