Rd7 2026: Non Parra games

I'm sorry I understand we've copped some bad ones with hip drops and stuff but that Dolphins one was definitely not intentional. Absolute disgrace
I'm not sure I've seen any of these "hip drop" tackles that are intentional?

Back in the day it was just good defensive technique - tackle bloke around the hips, hold on and slide to the ankles, bloke eventually falls over.

Now merkins seem to be submitting and getting injured from it every single time, with lengthy recovery times.

I think it happened in NSW Cup where a prop beat four of five defenders, then got tackled around the legs by a fullback, unfortunately the prop done his knee and the fullback was sin binned just for saving a try

I mean I don't know what tacklers are supposed to do now

A hip drop is where the defender grabs the attacker around the torso then loses their legs which usually end up on the back of the attackers legs..

What you are talking about is a typical legs tackle.

Nikorima for a spilt second landed on Kenny which was enough of a hip drop.

Not land on their legs with their own legs..
Thats it. But teams have been coached poorly in defence over the years which is why the hip drop is still around.

Poor Mitch Kenny.

Getting emergency surgery for a broken leg in Darwin is like ordering a fish dish in the country.

It’s done with best intentions but might well make you crook.
