So in the 20m tap, leading up to our try, I'm pretty sure that Gutherson was tackled by a Knights player, who didn't retreat to the 30m line...

Didn't cost us the he, and we still scored, but f**k me dead...
They were never on side all game. There was even a kick by Watson where he was forced back a bit so he was behind all but a handful of his teammates, yet Fergo catches it with opponents standing next to him. And then at one point we were being taken back 12m in defence. Edrick lee gets tackled on the 30m line yet we’re well behind the 40? Atkins is as f**ked as Perenara

Alvaro was a massive out.

Terepo isn't in the same league at all.

We really missed the work Alvaro does to help control the ruck...in hindsight Mannah should have started, but he's been so good off the bench you can understand why he didn't. That probably was the ultimate thing that lost the game in many ways. If we're doing even half that stuff around the ruck and hanging within eight or ten of Newcastle we probably come over the top of them. A 20 point deficit is too tough.
Combined with the early return of Ferguson I blame BA. Still an area he needs to work on and listen more to people like us.

Excellent post

It's the continual acceptance of mediocrity within our club from fans to the top keeping this club from reaching our potential

No one should be making excuses

No one should be saying 'but we always play like this against Newcastle, let's just move on'

That is a pathetic excuse!
There should be no excuses for what was dished up today absolutely none.

Score line absolutely flattered us.

Mate we have won 11 games against Newcastle this millennium. 11 games in 19 years!

Which deadwood do you suppose is even still here that has lead to this?

Sometimes, a hoodoo exists for a reason. I couldn't tell you why this one does, but I think calling out deadwood in the club or whatever is completely off the mark. Some of these players were in nappies and we still couldn't beat Newcastle.

Last time i checked there are more than just players in a club that make up a culture.

We have a losing culture, we are known to mentally pissweak........it is who the Eels are.

When i talk about clearing everything out i am not referring to the players to be honest, the players individually are not the common denominator.......it is the club itself.

I agree about hoodoo's existing and all that but why do we have so many of them? Also, we did alright against them for a while, why did they all of a sudden turn into a hoodoo?

I can see why Terepo started. Mannah has been outstanding coming on after Paulo and Alvaro have softened up sides a bit. Not gonna crucify BA in hindsight or for the opinions of his medical staff.

Terepo really is a myth though. Solid first grader, nothing more.

Lol. Settle, Lou-Anne. I've expressed my opinion, and asked you a question.

I said that even if Tepai died with the ball, it would be a handover on their 35m line or whatever.

I can't believe anyone would even argue that he shouldn't have caught it, but hey, Moses is the more convenient target I suppose. You do you, I'm not here to change your mind even if you're wrong.
Well no you didn’t make any opinion on the offload you asked mine in a condescending manner and then started this post off in the same way. I know you think you are always right but you’re not. I’m not blaming Moses or morea for the try I’m blaming the fact we had to chase points in a hurry.
Look I know talking down to people is your style and that’s cool but please don’t run off and hide in the NRL forum for a few months because someone called you out on something you like to pretend you don’t do

I didn't solely mean players, sorry.

Who in the admin staff? Coaching? I'd be shocked if there's one tbh. So how do we clear out the club of people when this has been going on for longer than any of them have been here?

Short of literally starting a new club, what do you propose? 11 games in near on 20 years, I don't think we can talk about anyone in the setup as being deadwood. I think you're being a bit reactive and not thinking clearly.

Terepo offers the odd highly charged run, second or third in the set, usually after one of the big bopper props, ala Nathan Brown but then Brown also plays defence.

Lol.

Who's talking down to whom?

I'm not blaming Moeroa either, you've flown off the handle at a post aimed at someone else blaming Moses, where I simply said that if Moeroa had done the most basic part of his job as a football player, we would probably not have been in that situation.

Don't confuse my amusement at your carrying on with condescension, that's just a cop out.

I have been asking for this cleanup for over a decade to be honest. This is not a new "kornstar loses his shit over continual Eels losses" post(s).

If i were the board (as they are new) i would be investigating what Souths did or to a lesser extent Cronulla because those 2 clubs have done what we need to do.

I would say Dragons too but they happened to be in the right place at the right time to get Bennett at a time that he was still very good.

Yep, i'm not thinking clearly cause i am sick of going into a game "knowing" we are going to lose. I'm never confident in any game but there are games like today that you just know we don't stand a chance.

I'll get over it and be there on Sunday but FMD we are a predictable side!

Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you know who the personification of the club is?

Last week Mannah came on in the second minute and probably had his best game of the season. You could see how, when he was off that our middle went soft.
I understand why BA put him in as well but geeze, when Brown is back Terepo is going to have to pick things up because Kaufusi and Stone aren’t doing much wrong.

Plus I'd say Mannah was part of the bench crew to help rookies Kaufusi and Stone.

Realistically, you know what it takes to break a genuine hoodoo like that? And you can cue up some of the parrots here (not you, but I can predict it)...

Luck and patience.

I can't tell you why we can't beat Newcastle. The staff at the the club has changed entirely heaps of times, so has the roster, and we still can't. To me that says that Newcastle know about the hoodoo and so do we, and that affects both sides mentally.

You need to grab a win or three in a row and get past that mental hoodoo. Sometimes that takes luck, sometimes it takes a good day, some times it takes patience to play a rubbish game but control it. Today for eg, I think we could have won with Alvaro. So there's some bad luck. We could have won with a bit more patience in attack, so that's about simplifying it and having that patience.

It's not easy. Honestly. I've had sides I have never beaten.
