Rd9: Eels v Panthers GAME DAY THREAD at Bluebet Stadium 6/5/22

Wow, great contest and forward battle - and great to come away with that result. Streakbreakers!

When May scored at 55mins, I thought we would fold. But great Eels effort and belief to come back into the contest, get in front, and hold on. All with 16 men (sorry Bryce) and two of the bench forwards used pretty sparingly.

And last minute two point field goals - what a f**ked idea they are anyway!

Until we learn to be consistent I'll enjoy it for what it is and lay off making any bullshit predictions about our season.
In many respects I totally agree, and consistency is something that has let us down for a long time.

But I don't think we're ever going to achieve the consistency of the Storm or the Panthers, but we can match them on any given day.

Last season, the Storm were as awesome and consistent as they've ever been, maybe their best regular season ever. But a grand final appearance alluded them.

This year we appear to be cognisant of the fact that just because you start the season hot doesn't mean you'll be firing at the end of the season.

We won't get consistency, we don't have that team. We just need to build, make sure we're Top 4 come seasons end, and be ready to go for 4 weeks to make it happen.

Can we do all that? That remains to be seen.

Were we underdogs or favourites tonight?
Seriously ... you are worried we will get confidence form this and it will go to our heads .... what the hell else should we have done? .... its a great win. BA and our leaders need to make sure we know it was awesome but keep working hard

Our captain, Gutherson played his best game tonight. He was immense. Brown and Matterson however turned the game on it’s head and without them we wouldn’t have won. We also beat them with 15 players. We didn’t use our complete interchange again. Elkin has the boys very fit.
