decent game to watch

gee the Panfers tackling technique is brilliant, no wonder they are the best defensive team in the comp

what a masterstroke from supercoach to move Matto to the left edge, that sidestep was reminiscent of his days in the halves

Simonson is getting better with every game he plays, we're gonna gave a decent backline when Blake and Sivo return

Papalii, one of his best games all year, where has this been ?

Sean Lane also had a dig, he can be very good but some games he can be very ordinary, need some consistency, please

Ennis said Dylbags was the form 5/8 of the NRL right now, get a grip ffs, he's playing well but certainly not the best

A pleasing aspect of that game is that Mitch was quiet and we didn't rely on his kicks for most of our trys, we have points in us when we turn up

before Drown was moved to the centres, I’m not sure there was any other 5/8 in better form. Many have said it too.

they really are

Pou mentioned during the game .... look how many merkins they get in EVERY tackle - not just floppers - 3 merkins smashing the ball runner and driving them backwards

I think its a combination of great fitness and strength

They have a great pack with not many plodders. They really rattled our forwards last night.

Agree, their lift ‘em high and drag them back, coupled with their big yards from the backs is what sets them apart. As BA said, our resilience was amazing and his game plan clearly superior.

I thought that Moses was not kicking well, but maybe avoiding To’o was all that we could manage. His kicks towards Edwards to make him run towards the ball was a master stroke by BA.

the thing that I think swayed the game our way was that we stopped going one up trying to smash through their defensive wall ... a few forwards stringing a few passes meant the 3 tacklers they sink into smashing the first merkin are out of play and there's some metres to be made by the next guy who gets the ball ... still hitups, just getting the ball away from their defensive swarm

which peanut said we can't change tactics mid game?

Some sets their forwards weren't getting the ball till over halfway, they did the same thing to Canberra but we showed far more resilience and managed to turn the tide.
We got bashed for much of that game but we stayed patient and completed our sets. Instead of offloading when we were getting driven back we were selective about it. Super pro performance

Oppy in the centers cant be moved. His defence last night was amazing as was Moses with Kikau charging at him all night. Gets his body in front every time. His D when Kikau charged down his kick may well have been the difference. An average defender eh Poo?

Well with what we have lost and what he is offering ATM he’s worth to us at least what we are paying now. Maybe even a little more, he’s totally outplaying Brown at the moment.
CPI based pay rise.
I agree although not CPI based but by whatever % the salary cap has increased (so he takes the same % of the cap that he does now).
Unfortunately, I am not sure that will be enough to keep him and that is if we do make an offer. My earlier mail before his current purple patch was that we might not be keeping him.

Opacic is a great defender.

But I don't think we can leave Sivo, and Blake out, when they return.

Simonsson has been playing great, and doesn't deserve to be dropped.

What a headache to have!

So far we're the only one to have beaten both Storm and Panfers. At their home grounds too. If only it was every week.

I think the backline at full strength will be 2.) Sivo 3.) Penisini 4.) Blake 5.) Simonsson and rightfully so.

I wasn’t very impressed with Simonsson at the start of the season but he was fantastic last night. He’s starting to become a very good first grader. Matterson is in the best form he’s ever been at the Eels and is a must re-signing. The amazing thing is we beat the Panthers last night without Niukore, Sivo and Blake. If you add those 3 players into the side then we are a scary proposition for any side if we play to our potential.

Most impressive part of the win was that despite not being able to dominate in the middle like we do most weeks we stayed in the contest and came away with points from the limited opportunities we had

frustrating that we are still so inconsistent given what our best performances look like
