MOLTZEN TO PLAY HALF-BACK AGAINST EELS

Tuesday, 23 March 2010
Wests Tigers Coach Tim Sheens has moved Tim Moltzen to half-back for the round three blockbuster against the Parramatta Eels at the Sydney Football Stadium on Friday night, March 26.
Moltzen will partner Benji Marshall in the halves after Robert Lui was ruled out for between four to six weeks yesterday with an ankle injury.
Former Cronulla utility Mitch Brown will make his club debut for Wests Tigers after being named at full-back. Beau Ryan returns to the wing after missing the round two loss to the Sydney Roosters through suspension.
Bryce Gibbs returns to the front-row after missing the Roosters game with a hamstring injury. Todd Payten will play his first NRL match this season after overcoming a calf injury.
Liam Fulton will not play against Parramatta as he is still feeling the effects of a late hit from the round one win over Manly. Fulton has experienced complications from a popped rib cartilage and spent last night in hospital.
Sheens has named a six man bench for the game.

1 Mitch Brown
2 Lote Tuqiri
3 Chris Lawrence
4 Blake Ayshford
5 Beau Ryan
6 Benji Marshall
7 Tim Moltzen
8 Bryce Gibbs
9 Robbie Farah ©
10 Keith Galloway
11 Todd Payten
12 Gareth Ellis
13 Chris Heighington
14 Jason Cayless
15 Andrew Fifita
16 Mark Flanagan
17 Daniel Fitzhenry
18 Geoff Daniela
19 Junior Moors

Thank Christ.
I nearly had a conniption fit when my eyes panned across the g-up team.

Brown at fullback, Daniella on the bench, Ryan on the wing, persisting with Heighington at Lock.

Brown, Daniella, Fitzhenry and Moors all in the same line up...

If Arana goes well this year, other clubs will be licking their lips.

Why oh Why Mitch Brown.

As I don't get to see any of the reserve games has he at least been playing well in NSW cup?

The rest I am happy with considering, glad Fifita has kept his spot. I thought he had a fairly good debut

It's not as bad as it could have been. I don't mind so much the look of that forward pack. Here's hoping Daniela and Fitzhenry are the first to go from the bench...

Obviously everything that i've read and heard about Taumata is false, because if he is half as good as they say there is no way he would be third choice halfback in at a club that has struggled in that position for the last 4 years! (Sarcasm inserted)

Fulton still injured?
Hmm good point , funny thing is that im sure i heard he was injured just prior the roosters game and had a needle and it didnt work, than next day it was being reported he had been ill all week and hadnt improved .. so which one it is take your guess.

Why oh Why Mitch Brown.

All i can think is Teflon definately only wants a make shift fullback till Lui comes back. He must not want someone to exel there or else he will be un-able to use Moltzen there again . Brown is average but from what ive seen he is safe , so fits the bill for Tims plan perfectly ,
i honestly couldnt put it past him to think and select teams with that sort of motive in mind.

Sheens was quoted on ABC Radio during the channel 9 call saying he see's Moltzen as a ball runner, not a ball player

Wouldn't matter who Sheens picked there would be someone on here bagging him for it.
Payten back is a big plus. Hopefully J Cayless fires up playing against his brother, he and Moors having given us zero grunt from the bench so far.

.
If you remember towards the end of last year Sheens put Gallant at fullback , moltzen half and Benji back at 6 and there was FA complaints about Him and we also won football games, so if he is to continue to make absurb selections and lose games as a result then he deserves all the sh*t that comes his way... Fair dinkum how can ppl keep defending him .

Well he certainly isnt showing much running from the back now is he. Why would u pick Moltzen for a runner? He is neither lightening fast or illusive , i honestly struggle to understand Sheens, he says one thing but his selections and coaching just go the opposite

Not trying to defend Sheens just saying that you can't always please everyone. If Lote isn't fullback this week then when will he be?
From what I saw of Mitch Brown at the sharks he is just a plodder.

The only thing Moltzen is good at is running the ball. Unfortunately, Taumata is 10 times better than him. I agree with Sheens, but then, why put Lui at half who is also a useless halfback?

Thats my point BM, selecting Brown will not please everyone, more likely please no one. Why would he do dumb sh*t like that when we have at least 3 other options. Than again he could have made a worse selection i guess.

I agree that Moltzen can't organise, pass or generally do most things at an NRL level, my query is why he then plays Lui who is exactly the same.

I'd play Taumata - but Sheens clearly doesn't want to, so I've given up on that.
