Not trying to defend Sheens just saying that you can't always please everyone. If Lote isn't fullback this week then when will he be?
From what I saw of Mitch Brown at the sharks he is just a plodder.

Dead set, I want a plodder at fullback.

I want someone to run forward on a kick return. I want someone who'll get in and take a scoot from dummy half when the forwards are getting back on side. I want a someone that can tick all the boxes in defence first: talk up when we don't have the ball, get positioning right, safe under the high ball, can tackle around the legs, will try and put someone into touch, will wrap up the ball when a big bloke forces his way into the in goal area.

If Mitch Brown can do better than Tim Moltzen at these things, then I'd take him at fullback everytime, regardless of who was at halfback.

I agree that Moltzen can't organise, pass or generally do most things at an NRL level, my query is why he then plays Lui who is exactly the same.

I'd play Taumata - but Sheens clearly doesn't want to, so I've given up on that.

Moltzen can't do most things at an NRL level?

Can't pass?

Exactly the same as Lui?

Whatever they got you on Westie, with all due respect, cut the dose.

Fult's sounds in a bit of trouble with that needle up.
Didnt we do the same thing to Farah a few years ago?? WTF who is on the staff there??

Tim does things slowly guys - lets just be thankful Molt's is at half. He and Benji work well together - as seen last year.

Perhaps Sheens is doing his smart arse shifty and will shift Lote to 1 anyway. He has done this before.......

Id rather not see Lote at fullback because then we'll have 2 sh*t wingers, we have more options for fullback then we have options for wing.

Well he certainly isnt showing much running from the back now is he. Why would u pick Moltzen for a runner? He is neither lightening fast or illusive , i honestly struggle to understand Sheens, he says one thing but his selections and coaching just go the opposite

Moltzen is a better ball runner than ball player. This is proven by the fact he had more line breaks than line break assists and try assists put together last year.

Problem is Moltzen wants to be a ball player, despite having no kicking game. Until he actually wants to play fullback, I think he'll always be useless in that position.

Some interesting stats

*Brown has won the only game at fullback when playing against Hayne at fullback
*Tuqiri has won the only game on the wing when playing against grothe on the wing
*Gibbs has 3 of 4 matches when starting against Moimoi
*Moltzen has won all 5 games he has played at halfback
*Our backs, with the the exception of Lawrence and Ryan, all have career win % above 50% in their selected positions this week. Lawrence and Ryan are both at 49%
*61% of Benji's wins have come when he plays at five-eighth
*Our forwards, with the exception of Farah and Ellis, all have career win % under 50%, in their selected positions this week. Farah is at 53% and Ellis is at 59% (includes his ESL career as well. He is 50% with the Tigers in this position)

So far, as predicted in the off-season - I've been nothing but right about these two. They are both incompetent when it comes to anything but running the ball. And we have Taumata sitting on the sidelines who is ten times the runner.

I'm on the dosage? You said Moltzen was being a spastic girl on purpose. He is a spastic girl on the football field you nincompoop.

mitch brown is a goodn selection

im sick of seeing moltzens positioning cost us try after try

i dont care if brown never touches the ball in general play, at least he is a natural fullback.

The Tiges are batting a thousand when Moltzen plays half back.
He played Australian School Boys at half back, he played is junior football at half or five eighth. Moltzen is a half back, not a fullback & he clicks with Benji sensationally. Tiges will be 6 from 6 with Moltzen starting at half back this w/e.

What odds will you give me for Parra?

Can we get over this schooboys sh*t? I posted in another thread a bunch of other international schoolboy halves who are now sh*te, some who you wouldn't even have heard of.

Im predicting an even contest and even a win for us IF we can hold on to any momentum we get and not throw it away with stupid unforced errors such as failing to find touch, or dumb passes on early tackles. Our kicking game has to be spot on as well, that in itself wont be an easy feat for us tho.

he would if Johns was a Campbelltown junior and played for the magpies in lower grades.

If he went through as a Balmain junior, then thats a different story.

We don't have juniors anymore, so that's fairly irrelevant.

Don't think I've been called a nincompoop since the 3rd Grade.

To clarify, I never called Moltzen a 'spastic girl' (predjudice against the handicapped and sexism combined - what the hell's wrong with you?).

What I did say was that I thought that Moltzen might be dogging it at fullback. 'Dogging it' is derisive American slang for a gutless poker move - it means bailing out of committment in the clutch - and has been appropriated by other sports such as NFL and NBL with regard to talented, high price players who mysteriously don't put in on game day.

Watching the Easts game there seemed to be something very wrong with his headspace. My reading of it was that he didn't really want to be there, hence the comment.

Disagree totally that he is on a par with Lui. Whenever he stands in the line (usually by default) he looks creative and dangerous (particularly when he gets it at 1st receiver). Disagree also that he lacks courage.

As to Sheens' mystifying comment that he doesn't need another playmaker in the line - by that rationalle, given that Marshall and Farrah were both available in 2005, Scott Prince would have been superfluous.

Some logic eh?

Friday night should be a good test. Centrebet have Wests at $2.50 and the market could drift even further. Interesting.

Gibbs, Payten and (hopefully) Fulton return so no real excuses up front. Wouldn't mind seeing Cayless dropped but that won't happen. If they can shut down the offloads there is no question that they can win. Fittness is not a problem. The Manly game was probably the most brutal 1st round encounter I've seen and they hung in there superbly. Parramatta on the other hand don't look as well conditioned (eg - Fui looks more than a few degrees away from showroom as do a few others).

Predicting Moltzen to step up and fire.

Should I be wrong, have no problem whatsoever in you quoting me verbatim on my pre-game wisdom (just don't call me a spastic OK?)

Peace,

Jase

Jasonl- fully agree something wrong with Moltzens headspace at present. I wondered in another post whether Teflon and his acolytes talking up Tuqiri at fullback and Lui at half left him feeling 'what about me?'- 'what have I done wrong for the half job?'- 'I rescue WT after the failed Marshall experiment at half last year and then am told I'm not good enough for a long term slot in first grade with others preferred over me in my 2 possible spots'.

Sounds feasable to me, just the same as Gallant playing well at fullback and then saying in the press we need a fullback and are looking at playing Lote there. It really would screw with a persons motivation.
If Lote does go to 1 and Lui the walk to 7 WHERE does it leave moltzen?

Back to the bench Ben Barba style and then off to the Bears to be first choice halfback when his contract expires. Rhino will probably join him.
