Reason for loss? Fatigue & use of bench

Reasons for loss?

1) Attitude: The Round 2 game against the Dragons set the benchmark for attitude. Where has that attitude gone?

2) Fatigue: We did look flat for long periods of the game yesterday.

3) Use of bench and who is on it: I went out to Henson Park on Saturday and watched the NSW Cup side run around. I thought that Vave and Bukaya did enough to justify a run in 1st grade this week. Probably at the expense of Mannah and B.Wright. On another note, I.Gordon is a better fullback than what he is a winger. Tackled well and he was safe under the high ball and various other kicks.

4) Don't overplay your hand Gal

f**kING AY

id take 1-0. a win is a win

a loss sh*ts me all week.

People complain about our attack, we score 20 points and lose.

We win 3 games in a row 12-10, 14-6, 10-4 and people would say our attack is crap.

We cant, and wont win the fans over.

Ha! There are a few dopes on here who think our attack is great! Especially down the left with early balls & everything!!

I wouldnt say our attack is great, however, it is significantly better than last year, and that cant be argued.

We dont play to our strengths at all, pom and williams saw hardly any ball.

Gallen needs to go back to the middle and not play edge, he kills any type of attacking play we have.

Best led all centers last year in try assists and line break assists, and yet, he gets no quality ball as Gallen is always in the way.

Well i think that is completely wrong. If Gallen was playing a club with a decent 5/8, or somebody like Gards inside him, say melbourne or Brisbane, then Gall would merely be an option runner. Its the inability of the middle guys to find the correct link. Gal is running the lanes & the angles but they give him the ball everytime. If he wasnt there, the centre would get toasted.

I was actually shocked at how dangerous the Sharks looked in attack yesterday. Certainly a huge improvement on last year. Just need to fix the halves' kicking up (a fair bit), and you'll be looking the goods.

which fans?

cronulla fans? who the f**k cares how the team win? seriously?

cronulla fans shouldnt care how they win the games as long as the end result is a positive.

i enjoyed 08 more than 03,04,05,06,07,09,10,11 because we won matches. simple as that.

true

but perhaps he could take himself out of the play every once in a while.

but yeah, better ball playing from the 6/7 and structure would lead to less gallen plays down the left. he'd also be less fatigued.

Its ok. He didn't. He's playing with the Storm guns in the Brisbane feeder team. Chis, Kelly, Niko et al.
chiso scored 2 or 3 trys on the weekend for them.

I think the main reason for the loss, is a serious lack of depth in the squad. All four bench players against the knights are very average footballers. Hence the time they spend on the field is limited. We have no game breakers from the bench. We need the starting pack on the field for as long as we can & if it means limited time for the benchies then so be it!

Well then we should stagnate the bench and starters. Put Toops on the bench. Start with Brod Wright. Spread the talent a little. And mix up the bench a little. Mannah out Vave in. Bakuya is back and fit and was due to start the season in the run on squad so get him in the squad somewhere.

we lost 24 - 20 in the main because the half back had a shocker....wocker on Grandstand reckoned on the last play of the game Best was screaming for the ball unmarked.....we might still nearly have won..... you can't really expect to win with a kicking game like that though...it was a joke.

We should have had that game, poor kicking aside, for me it was lost in the last 10min of the first half, when we let Newcastle make too many metres, through non committment to tackles!

Vave would be very handy as he is enthusiastic and busts tackles. Mannah and Brod are workers with limited impact. No balance on the bench picked every week

I've actually been thinking about that a bit and I think it's a decent idea. One game an hour before kick-off, bench Snowden, Douglas and Tupou for the first 15 or even 20 then throw them on for the remainder of the first half. Having them fresh on the field when the other side has probably taken their best off for a rest would be a big advantage - give the benchies a chance to shine with the mission of just keeping us in the game.

That could also backfire in a very big way...you could find yourself 18 in arrears in no time...our entire problem (notwithstanding the bench issues) is in the halves and the options they have been taking...... or not taking as the case may be. The pack has been giving us the platform.
