All I can say is....AFL travels well????
And BTW wasn't the rugby union national comp last year a raging success? Apparently it travels well also.

the article is typical of how RU and AFL fans have both taken an anti RL perspective. it hasnt harmed RL but along the way has ticked off lots of RL fans.

people like wilson and spiro zavious can write what they want?

with the Gold Coast titans in the nrl, playing in their new ground, souths getting worldwide publicity for RL, the biggest RLWC ever in australia being held this year and the liklihood of perth re-joining the nrl in a short space of time, weve got lots to be happy with.

and in england, by 2012 theres a fair chance that SL will have a club in wales in it, and another french RL club in toulose, plus france will be playing the Quad Nations in 2009.

jealousy is a bitter thing.

One thing I’ve learnt with you Dally, it changes with the weather

I’m sure you would say that now. What a load of horse sh*t.
That would be exhibit "A" on this thread

I think she still is a fan of the Swans. I think she made herself out to be a Rooster fan to support some BS she was writing about the Bulldogs. What is you point?

No, actually unlike you on a previous thread, I do believe they have helped sell season tickets. But I think it is more to do with the NRL campaign to get more season ticket holders at all clubs

if you cant understand someones posts dont quote them, its just silly. ive mentioned heaps of times we need a team in wellington.

and if i dont like the Warriors, why did i buy a NZ Warriors jersey, or a NZRL test jersey you fool.

God of nations.

Rebecca Wilson's late father was a League hater and Union suck and now she is just taking over from him, all of her comments are ones which her father regularly used to spray.

But she conveniently left out the fact that there is a growing Rugby League team in the AMNRL called Jacksonville Axemen and that getting a crowd of over 10,000 for a game is a great effort by all involved.
Many NRL games last season had less than 10k crowds so that gives a fair indication of why it will be a success.
I am also told the organisers were looking at ways of increasing the capacity due to demand.

Darryl Howland, the main organiser has put an enormous amount of time, effort and money into this event
This article is an insult to him and his fellow organisers.

She is the biggest bitch in the history of Rugby League.

Over the past 2 years, she was one of the Storms biggest critics, only to finally come around and jump on the bandwagon a week before the GF.

Mind you, Jacqueline Magnay from the SMH is worse.

and if i dont like the Warriors, why did i buy a NZ Warriors jersey, or a NZRL test jersey you fool.

God of nations.

How silly of me not to know you privately purchased Warriors and Kiwi jumpers. Nice work Dally.
I’m going out for while. I’ll check back in later today,

Agreed and the best part will be the enormous publicity it will get to show up her lame attempt to take a swipe at the game.

Spinner's spun a winner.

Wilson done like a dinner.

Is anyone surprised here old man was a strong anti league, she is following in his footsteps. They are union snitches, her old man used to bag league out all the time in the tele.
She simply has no f**king idea, promotion on jay leno, sell out crowd, promotion with jacksonville jags main page paper coverage.

Can someone remind me how well the APC shield went that's right crowds figures around 1000 if lucky she is a bitter s**t.

If someone isgoing to get injured isn't it somewhat irrelevant what country you're in???
They happen. As for the trip, it's obviously all about exposure, certainly it hasn't harmed rugby league in any way and apparently Souths have almost broke even on the whole thing. Can't really see the negatives in this one.

As for the lovely Rebecca Wilson, she's paid to write stuff that'll stir up debate and generate sales, however ill informed or true. It seems to have worked, cos we're talking about her... Personally I can't stand her constant negativity about all aspects of the game.

Ignore and with any luck she'll blow away in th hot air she generates....

The AFL is playing games in South Africa and Dubai I'll be interested to read Bec's thought's on this misadventure, oh that's right it travels well!!!!

I like the way anti-league journo's always bring out RL is only played in NSW and QLD and the north of England. Well forgive me if I am wrong but isn't the "global game" of rugby union only plyed in NSW and QLD also, I live in Melbourne and NO one is interested in RU, at least they know the Storm. League may be strong in the north but union is strong in the south, if it was so strong in England where are the big clubs (drawing at least 10,000) in Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, Newcastle, Birmingham etc. That's right there isn't any. As for Scotland, is it even played in Glasgow?

As for league not travelling well, didn't London Skolars and Harlequins just play a game in the centre of London? Or the Lebanese league sign a 3 year deal with the Bank of Beirut. Did I imagine a young Russian hooker playing for the Wests Tigers last year, or a couple of Irish players who have just signed to play with the London Skolars. Where is former Melbourne player Scott Hill these days. Did I imagine Stacey Jones great career as his ONLY pro clubs were in France and NZ? 2 Serbian guys have just signed to play lower division in France with Entraigues. Did the Fijian league not just announce they will be showing ALL world cup games on local TV as well as domestic matches.

Yes I can see your point Rebecca, league doesn't travel well.

She hasnt considered nor presented the trip in much of an objective light.....but that wasnt her intention.

In my view, from what I have read and heard, the promotion has been an outstanding success.

Not the least of which is that for Souths players and those considering joining Souths, trips like this are very attractive.

Its dissapointing that like Chesterton and Wall, Wilson wants to profit and benefit by criticising something that has absolutely nothing to do with her.

Only the most stupid or negative of readers will form an opinion of the trip based on hers.

Its not in her long term career interests to make an enemy of Souths.

A big well done to the SMH's Brad Walter who is actually over in Jacksonville who has been positive all week about the game and it's impact in the media.
