Recruitment & Player Retention

Frizz was the big loss IMO but I reckon he'll be in Sharks colours again one day.
I have no idea why I think that though.

SKD may not be in the best form at the moment but I have been whingeing about our centres for so long that I would be a pelican if I complained about trying to sign someone like him.

Lafai would be an outstanding pickup, I'm expecting him to be one of the premier centres in a couple of years and he's just very unlucky to be behind Morris and Inu. Would love to see him in a Sharks jersey.

Anyone hearing new talk of those Pommies backs that were mentioned a while ago? Even Josh Morris' name was thrown up at some point recently too, he would be a massive get.

De Gois is being shopped around. Parra and canberra.

Wow that's interesting news CB4.

De Gois hasn't been at his best this year ... but I hope this doesn't mean we sign up Morris for another year - he is well past his use by date !

I could live with a De Gois / Lichaa /Robson rotation next year. But this assumes we could get Hodgkinson - and I reckon there's no way the Dogs will release him.

Morris has been one of our best this year.
Great defender and takes on the line.
Wish he could play 80 and free up a bench spot.

Bit harsh on Morris. If anything I think its the other way round.

Hodgkinson would be a typical signing. Flairless half who would want plenty. Took 12 months to get picked over Keating. Next we will be after him. We let CT go, lets go for Keary. Hodgkinson is a Robbo clone. Great converter but that is not needed.

Sam Williams might be worth a punt if we can get him cheap. Sure he is out of form now but could benefit from a change of scenery. You don't play like he did in the back half of 2012 if you have no talent.

How anyone could think Degois is playing better than Morris at present has got me stuffed.

The bloke hits hard in defence and has the spirit of competition down to his bones.

But in attack he isn't giving us much, whereas Morris has been instrumental in a few tries this year.

We need more of this from both of them, but at the moment we are only getting it from Morris.

Like the Hodkinson idea (drop the g mofo's), reckon he could compliment TC quite nicely. Robbo to 9, good pass, defensively up to it, and good for a dummy and scoot - see ya Degwah. If not Penani could be an option, reckon he has heaps more potential than Chad whose abilities have plateaued IMO (wish him the best at the Warriors).

From what I've seen of Sopoaga, reckon he could easily step up to FG next year. Looks like a Friz clone to me. Not sure about Rod Wishart, can only see a potentially solid FG'er there.

Centres - would say yes to SKD & Lafai, major upgrade on Pom & Wright. Possibly a move to bench back row for Pom, and Wright to reggies. Also like the Beau at FB, Flash to centre option. Hopefully Lootelly comes back fit and well.

Jesus Christ!

Would take a fair effort to get him here. I am cool with him coming, and paying an inform play maker what he is worth.

Kicking game is coming along nicely, and he is a more than handy goal kicker.

De Gois is being shopped around. Parra and canberra.

Good.

Morris is a retention target. Already has an offer. If he decides to play on he'll be a Shark.

Hold the phone Webbie. Hodgkinson did a knee and was out for 8 weeks and within a couple of weeks in NSW Cup he popped a shoulder and was out for the year. That's why Keating was ahaead of him.

Hard to drop a bloke even it's Keating for just being standard. Just be because he was the second choice, Keating was playing half In a winking team.

Took the poor start of the year for him to be dropped, which is how it should be.

Our players can be playing in a losing team yet don't get dropped.

Unfortunately true.

I thought with the new purchases and the addition of known first graders we may have stepped out of that mindset.
No we stick with the experienced shite rather than try some inexperienced shite, when the net result is the same. Oh well.

What about this guy

Benji Marshall's future at Wests Tigers is likely to come to a head imminently following talks between the club and the player's management on Thursday.
Wests Tigers' new chief operating officer Grant Mayer held talks with Marshall's manager, Martin Tauber, over an upgrade of the five-eighth's contract, as speculation emerged about a switch to rugby union.
Marshall's existing deal expires at the end of 2015, but has a clause in it allowing for a renegotiation following any increase in the salary cap.

800k for Marshall or 400k for Hodkinson. With TC back and healthy, I would go Hodko.

In fact, my priorities now would be Hodkinson, Lafai then SKD.
