That Red V member update is so disappointing to read...in complete denial and ignoring the fans, sporting commentators, social media angst.....unbelievable.

The Problem is they have allegedly had a 3 year extension on the table for MacGregor ( i.e if the rumors are correct ).If that happens we are stuck with him til 2020 !!!!

Smarty, I think you will find that was back in Feb... I will try and find the link, but there is no offer to extend as we speak.

Fair enough..but why were they offering Mary an extension? It's not as if there are other clubs lining up to try and pinch Mary from us. How on earth do they even consider offering him an upgrade with more than 1 year to run on his current contract. Its mind boggling an stinks of total and utter incompetence by our Board.

I get your point... I think even talks of an extension were very premature as well by the way. Just clarifying the time frame mate, thats all. PS I agree that Mary has has ample time to show his worth. We need change moving forward.

I understand...I think that based on what we have seen this season, Mary has had enough time. Time for him to be told he is surplus to requirements and Doust and the Board need to take ownership of the mess we are currently in.
Will this happen...unfortunately probably not. I think its going to take even more declining attendances for the board to wake up...hopefully they don't extend Mary before they come to this realization.

I actually gave Dragons Management credit in the appointment of Demitriou thinking they have a ready made replacement in case things goes sour. Can they get any more sour? Realistically they can still salvage something out of this season but the longer it goes the worse it gets. This week would have been the perfect round as it is before they play the big guns. If they lose to the Tigers that will be the end of the season for them and management will wake up and smell the coffee.

Demitriou obviously knows what he is doing as you can see the brand of footy the Cutters play compared to the FG side are miles apart and the results are the proof in the pudding. NYC is also doing well. Maybe remove Mary and Young and replace them with Demitriou and Head.

The club will claim they can't afford to pay out Mary's contract and upgrade Demetriou or bring in a new coach, but the reality is they can't afford NOT to sack Mary. The decline in memberships, ticket and merchandise sales over the next 2-3 years will surely exceed any cost of paying out his contract. We the fans need some hope going forward and right now there is none.

Can someone explain to me why they can't afford to pay out McGregor? It was only two years ago they were prepared to pay Bennett nearly if not a million, and before him it was Bellamy...so where has that money gone? Obviously McGregor would be on I'm guessing $450K, not sure but certainly nothing like the Bennett and Bellamy

Look guys the more inside job for the boys the more years they all stay around . I believe we all not attend the rest of the home games to show we have had a gut full .It just shows they are listening to what we have to say after the statement that was released yesterday. Its all about membership and dollars for next year .I got on the survey today from the dailytelegraph wow the management of the club will be looking over there shoulders its becoming close to the end for all and us RED V MEMBERS its in there hands now.

On what possible grounds could anyone justify extending his contract? Luckily it is getting out there just how inept he is. I believe rumours of players being upset with him.

The theory is they can offer Bennett substantially more money because his signing will automatically attract substantially more sponsorship.

It is with great pleasure that the St George Illawarra Dragons declare their 2019 memberships now on sale.

Our members are the lifeblood of this club and make the ultimate commitment to our team.

This investment goes directly towards supporting the on-field ambitions of the club and with an enviable mix of young emerging talent and established performers, season 2019 is shaping up to be one to remember. The future is in great shape at our proud club.

In 2019, our home venues will see a continued commitment to our heartland venues, with five home games at the historic Jubilee Stadium, Kogarah, five home games at picturesque WIN Stadium, Wollongong and one home game continuing at the beautiful Glen Willow Stadium in Mudgee as part of our ongoing regional commitment.

Additionally, we are pleased to announce the inclusion of a marquee home game to be played at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground in 2019.

We've listened to your feedback and made even more improvements to the Red V membership program including:

  • XBlades members cap as voted by members
  • Member scarf, with pockets as the alternate 'members choice' item
  • Access to purchase tickets to the Charity Shield and one home game in Mudgee as a member add-on
  • New and improved member events

The club is now debt free & cashed up.
No money to pay McGregor off doesn't hold water anymore.
