Redcliffe Dolphins recruitment targets

I don't want to turn this into a Broncos discussion but just on Melbourne, things have started to go to shit ever since they lost Dave Donaghy and the way Melbourne were prepared to go through the legal system just so he couldn't take his post at Brisbane until halfway through the season last year suggests to me this was a person they absolutely did not want to lose.

I know they had a reasonably successful year last season on the field but all the off-field drama, now they got players leaving all over the place. The only thing Melbourne have got going for them is their coach but even his contract extension seemingly took an age, there were even doubts whether or not he'd sign it.

Then you look at what DD has done for Brisbane in the limited time he's been at the club, he's barely made a bad decision. I can't recall one example of signing a staff or player that either was let go or was recruited that wasn't a good signing.
Without any disrespect, the football side of things are managed by Ben Ikin. His contributions should not be overlooked. When the storm lose Frank Ponissi, that's when they'll be in trouble (absent an equally competent successor being appointed).

Absolutely but hearing Donaghy speak in the media, he seems to have a bit more football IQ than the last bloke we had in his position.

Ikin was one of many signing made that have started to get things moving the right way

Im going to enjoy watching the Broncos fall into a heap when Reynolds inevitably gets injured multiple times during the season and they go back to having an all reserve grade spine

Looks like Dolphins are MILF hunting.

A shock potential lifeline has emerged for exiled NRL star Anthony Milford.
The 27-year-old had signed a one-year deal with the Rabbitohs, however the NRL refused to register his contract after he was charged with three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of wilful damage involving a vehicle.
With a lot of uncertainty over his playing future, Milford returned to Brisbane.

If the Knights don’t end up pursuing Milford, he’ll have to watch the 2022 season from his lounge room before reuniting with Bennett for the Dolphins’ inaugural NRL season. The two have a close relationship coach from their time together at the Broncos.

IBM loved it when Ben Barba had his contract with the Cowboys torn up before he played a game. Something similar happening to Brisbane would be karmic and make 2022 a good season, regardless of whether my mob finishes last.

Redcliffe should sign him to a contract for 2022. Bennett could work with him and the team to prepare him for the style of play that The Dolphins will use in 2023.

The Storm raiding continues, dads army set to grow lol.

The Dolphins are poised to strike a major blow in the NRL player market with the NRL’s newest team in advanced negotiations with Kiwi Test forward Kenny Bromwich.
Less than a week after landing the key signature of the Melbourne Storm front rower Jesse Bromwich, the Dolphins are now aiming to turn the Bromwich brothers into a package deal for 2023.
Kenny Bromwich, 31, has played 192 NRL games since debuting for the Melbourne Storm in 2013 and was part of the purple reign 2017 and 2020 premiership-winning sides.

The Dolphins’ signing spree is set to continue and they have their eye on a key Bronco. The rising star is seriously considering the NRL’s newest club and has paused negotiations with Brisbane.
The Dolphins are reportedly preparing to make a significant play for Broncos centre Herbie Farnworth, but the staff at Red Hill are determined to keep him.

The 22-year-old’s future has been in the headlines for months ever since it was revealed he was on the wish list of Dolphins coach Wayne Bennett.

Farnworth has now paused extension negotiations with the Broncos until at least the start of the season in March, opening the door for the Dolphins to nail their target, according to News Corp.
