At full strength, would this be our best back line
1.robinson
2.semi
3.taka
4.hoppa
5.folau

Hoppa Unfortunately does not offer much at fb.....he just hasn't got much speed and doesn't really offer anything when he chimes into back line plays...today he was obviously terrible under the highball although he hasn't been too bad I'm earlier games

I feel like Robinson with his speed would add a lot more back there both in kick returns and also as a link man and also in and around the ruck looking for this balls from the forwards or halves
Looking back at his days in Canberra, there was a period maybe two years ago where he had an extended run at fb and was vv good

I know we are 2-2 so there is no need for drastic changes but just food for thought

If Takairangi is out we might have to move Hopoate just so we have enough first grade centres. Morgan goes okay but I wouldn't yet trust Folau to defend at centre every week.

Interesting thought. I'd like to see Robbo get a good run at FB but I think Arthur is more stubborn/loyal than that. But I'd like to see what Robbo could do behind a winning forward pack.

Leave Hoppa at fullback FFS!!

In the absence of further injuries I'd agree....for a little while. He's not exactly excelling at the position presently. If Robinson had missed the two torpedo bombs that Hoppa failed to get near catching I can imagine the shit he would have copped from the usual suspects. Hopefully Hoppa grows into the position a bit.

Hoppa is doing an admirable job but a long term fullback he definitely is not.

I reckon the plan is to move him back to centre next year if he's re signed.

No way he's playing 1 next year imo.

Hopoate is the better defender by a fair margin and thats what you want at fullback, I know who id rather have as a last line to stop inglis.

I'm not so worried about those bombs last night. Many fullbacks would have struggled. Certainly Robinson wouldn't have done any better.

The biggest weakness for mine is his lack of pace when chiming in to the backline in attack.

He's not getting in to the position the other players are expecting, and he doesn't seem to have too much to offer when he does get the ball.

Part of that might be timing and experience but I think part of it is just lack of pace required from a top level fullback.

I'm also not sure that being a "safe" fullback is enough these days, when nearly every team has an electric attacking option (who are mostly all very safe and highly skilled as well).

If we had Inglis instead of Hopoate last night - we would have won by twenty points in reckon.

i'd certainly give hoppa until about round 10 .... tho I can see some value in a temporary reshuffle if taka is injured

For mine his issue with the bombs is a technique thing, rather than a particularly great kick. I think he needs to do a bit of work with someone to get that right.

I think we should persevere with him.

I've given it to Reece, but he's been outstanding in attack - how he scored last week and his second last night still baffles me.

Well done, Reece!

So we would have scored one more try with Inglis, then?

:p

That is my point too. He just has no speed or attacking punch.
