Relocate training to Kogarah?

i seen an article by Gould claiming the travel could be getting to the lads, and it’s something I have thought about for years. Me personally if I were a player I’d much prefer the Illawarra region to live but I’m a country bloke and think Sydney is a bit of a hole. Players on the other hand seem to love Sydney with all it offers a young buck. Should they just train at Kogarah to make it more attractive to players so they can live at Cronulla? Or should we force the players to live in the Gong. Young blokes these days don’t seem to see the bigger picture though so I doubt that will succeed.

I have spoken on this topic many times before. I think being located at Woolongong is a detriment to our chances of signing players from other clubs and of signing promising juniors in the city or the country. Of course we should be located at Kogarah. If we were located at Kogarah, players could also live in the Eastern Suburbs and still be close enough to Kogarah. They could even live around Mossman an still be close enough to training or they could live in many other attractive locations in Sydney. Our headquarters should be at Kogarah.

Yeah I’m only a sparkie but I wouldn’t want to travel over an hour and back each day if it could be avoided. Plenty of people would say suck it up but if you can get the same or more coin and not travel why wouldn’t you?

Most of you people on this thread are starting to sound like the excuse gallery for our board, coach and results.
These guys have plenty of cash and time to make it work. We even provide a bus for the guys from north to come down to training etc.
How long do you reckon it takes for some of the penrith guys to get to training from all parts of the city. they dont all live in Penrith or close by in Parra. They car pool to training.

Doesn’t seem to bother Melbourne. Not many players originate from there.

Geez, its not like these precious flowers have to go to training after work. They're full time bloody footballers, they've got all day to make their way to the gong. There's people who travel an hour each way on crowded trains every day for about a tenth of what these snowflakes get paid.
Yeah obviously there are but they can do the exact same job with the same or more pay at the Roosters and not have to. If choosing between 3 different clubs with the same pay that could be a deciding factor like it or not.

Or they can live in Wollongong on the beach and travel 5 minutes to work and not have to bother with traffic. Many do.

I know what lifestyle I prefer.

Gould seems to have a bit to say on the Dragons of late, this one seems odd - reads like a change a new coaching director/football manager might want to make....

Should be, maybe, but will never be again. Thinking that everything can be at Kogarah is long gone and ancient history.

Shit they wouldn’t want to play for Penrith in that case. It can take longer to get to the foot of the mountains from the city than it can take to get to the ‘gong.

Who are they? I thought a lot of the players lived in the ‘gong.
Corey Norman, Ben Hunt, Tyson Frizell, James Graham, Matt Dufty, Host, Lats, Robson, and McInnes if he hasn’t already is soon by all accounts. There are probably also more but most importantly they are nearly all bar Friz from outside the Gong.

They last won in 2003 too and we were as close last year as they will get this year. They also have great juniors.
