I remember that merry-go-round but not that rain fountain. I'm guessing that's 30 odd years ago?

Yeah not sure when they took it out, I went there sometimes in the early to mid 90s and it had gone by then :( . We used to visit friends out at Narwee back in the late 60s and early 70s and we always used to walk up to Roselands, don't know why but it was a magical place as a kid, I remember a water wheel out the front also.

Back in 1965 when it was opened, Roselands was officially the largest shopping mall in the southern hemisphere. That's probably why it was so popular back then because it was unlike anything Australia ever had before. It's probably the equivalent to when the new Westfield Centrepoint (re)opened up in 2010.

These days Roselands is considered medium sized. There was a proposal in 2016 to redevelop it as it was 50+ years old and in need of a facelift. The proposal was accepted and was given to a company in Abu Dhabi, however the deal fell through for some reason and they decided to refurbish it instead. This is taking place right now starting with the ground floor. Then they'll do level 1 then 2.

Any child of the 80's would remember these all over suburban Australia laid-out by homeowners in an attempt to stop dogs backing one out on their front lawns..

The day me and my old man found a Henry the Third laid arching across the top of a bottle on our front lawn was the light-bulb moment this method was futile, and the bottles were banished forever.

Don't know if posted yet but before Itunes whenever I wanted a song I usually listened to the radio and used one of these to play back later.

Only thing is you would need a pencil every now and again to wind the tape back in.

The fire at the old Buckingham's department store in Oxford St, living in Paddington at the time I remember the smoke filling the air in the distance, my aunty and uncle lived only a block and a half from the site. I think my parents may still have one of the news paper articles from the time.

I remember that... but however exactly did they stop dogs from dropping one?

the curiosity show

Dean Hutton was a regular on Hey Hey Its Saturday I wasnt aware until the mid 90s the curiosity show existed. It was replayed on Nickelodeon just when Foxtel was launched.

Speaking of Hey Hey:

I was saddened it ended in 1999 but when they brought it back 10 years later I dont think too many people knew it was back until that Red Faces skit that went right around the world.

Unfortunately their comeback shows didnt rate due to PC.

Still I had a great memories as a kid watching it on a Saturday night.
