My old man loved Edgell Baked Beans so much that when they discontinued them he wrote a “sternly-worded” complaint letter to them... but sadly to no avail....

And I agree with him, they were the best baked beans by far..

No they stopped making them about 4 years ago. Have to admit i had an orange about 6-7 years ago and it didn't taste like it use to taste like either back in the day

Besides the orange sunny boy there was Razz which was raspberry, Zap which was lime, Glug which was cola and Pow which was pineapple, on the inside if you were lucky you could get a print out which said you won a free sunnyboy, they were great days at the school tuck shop then.
I think the Razz was my favourite. And the "free" wasn't rare. We used to get heaps of "frees". What a great promotion that was.

Was never a big fan of baked beans when i was younger but the Edgell ones were the best, couldn't stand the Heinz ones, something about Heinz tomato flavouring that just didn't taste right to me, maybe too much salt but i didn't like Heinz, i don't mind the ones from Aldi now, i think they are Corale brand.

Speaking of things discontinued i used to love the Masterfoods zucchini salad in a tin, my mother just used to open the can and tip into in a bowl, use to love it with steak, from memory it had zucchini, beans and pasta in it.

Two other things that have been discontinued in the last few years
Continental packet cheese and leek soup mix, the mix would make the easiest and tastiest potato bake, it was always a favourite when i did BBQs.

Tinned potato salad, i do like making my own potato salad but would have a tin spare in the cupboard just for times like when i went to the beach after work and would grab a BBQ chicken for an easy dinner on the way home, it was just potato pieces and lots of mayonnaise, Black and Gold brand or other home brands.

Love Porky Pig, the most under-rated of the Looney Tunes characters for mine.

although as the song goes..

“he’s our favourite TV star!!”

Its funny you never see Petunia Pig, Porky' s girlfriend or even his nephew Cicero in any of the cartoons but they turn up in the comic books.
