Possibly the most notorious Australian car ever built. The Leyland P76.

There was an overwhelming Citrus quality about the camira... I have to fess up, I had one.... Made me old before my time the worry I went through every time I drove it wondering if I would make it to my destination....

Surprisingly I still see the odd one getting around now and then.

From memory, they had an inherent design fault in the chassis, which would break apart at certain parts of the structure in the event of a crash. That’d be enough to age anyone like Benjamin button..

I had one too,and every piece of it had to be bought genuine, so there were no cheap fixes when they broke down once a month

No Names Darlinghurst.
Up a little back lane up a flight of stairs to an absolutely dingy dining room which used to serve up the best spaghetti when you were a kid and schnitzel, pork chops, scallopini , fish, liver and stews, on the table they would bring free bread and iceburg lettuce and at the counter there were huge containers of cordials, usually red and lime and sometimes orange. Probably went there for the first time in the late 60s and continued going till it closed about 3 years ago. Another Sydney institution gone.

Apparently the same family are now running No Names at the Alexandria Erskineville Bowling Club.

https://www.nonamesrestaurant.com.au/about-us/

I worked at the Darlo end of the city during the 80s but never went to No Names ever. Not once. I think we were too busy drinking every pub in the area dry. In 1990 I changed jobs and my boss was Italian. We started going there about once a week.

There was also another No Names in the Beach Rd Hotel at Bondi back in 90s. I don't think it was affiliated with the original Darlo restaurant but it was pretty good.

My father used to go the Darlinghurst one with work a lot as he worked out of PMG exchange at Darlinghurst for years, then he started taking us for dinner there at times and also lunch on Saturdays, i used to like the Saturdays back then because they had ravioli on that day which i would have then roast chicken with salad[ well lettuce only ] always liked trying to get the little window table in the corner, not sure why because all you could see was the exhaust chimney.

The one at the Erko Bowlo was the one that was at Maroubra Junction for years, went there a couple of weeks ago as the Erko Bowlo is semi regular venue of mine, it is a step up on the horrible Chinese that was there.

There have been other No Names also although i don't think they were affiliated with the Darlo one, one at The Friend In Hand Hotel Glebe, used to love that one and also one at The Bath Arms Hotel at Burwood besides the Bondi one.

This little beauty and its sister the Twin Star used to be the only ferries that ran to Luna Park for years till Sydney Ferries included Milsons Point in their run. Back in the late 60s and early 70s we would catch one of these ferries from Circular Quay to Luna Park. In later years when i lived at Lavender Bay and also Kirribilli for a few years i would catch these ferries across to the Quay, also when i fished at Kirribilli some the captains driving the boats would ask us how we were going fish wise when they would pull into the wharf, i miss these beauties on the harbour , fond memories as a child and as an adult too.

I got suspended once in my school life because of this pencil case.
“boobs” was probably not the most appropriate use of those letters.
Good one. Ahh memories of my dodgy high school. I was suspended because someone got whacked in the eye with a ruler they took from desk. It had one of those thin metal blades on the edge. So apparently I took a weapon to school and deserved a few days 'holiday' for that.

Any high school memories anyone else would like to share? strange rules? dodgy teachers?

I don’t think they are made anymore...

No they stopped making them about 4 years ago. Have to admit i had an orange about 6-7 years ago and it didn't taste like it use to taste like either back in the day

Besides the orange sunny boy there was Razz which was raspberry, Zap which was lime, Glug which was cola and Pow which was pineapple, on the inside if you were lucky you could get a print out which said you won a free sunnyboy, they were great days at the school tuck shop then.
