Could it be they want to complete a whitewash and selecting a guy who they know will do the job makes more sense than picking a young guy who - however in form - could very easily be found out by the likes of GI and cost us the game?

100% agree plus to be fair to the blues they have brought through Reynolds, Hodgkinson, Woods and Topou this series plus reintroduced Hoppa to the origin fold. Personally would rather win 3-0 then bring in a young bloke who going forward be our 4th or 5th choice winger.

I couldn't care less about a whitewash, tbh. Beating them was good enough this year, we need to make sure we can keep winning. I get that they're professionals and need to do what they think is best to win, I just don't think it's very forward thinking... and you could argue that we've won this year and that we had a duty to prepare ourselves best to win in the future.

You don't really lose much by putting Mansour in anyway, given his form and ability. It's not like you're putting in a talented kid that's out of form with a look to the future. Mansour has his hand up.

The thing is, he has been pretty shaky in this department lately, where previously it was a very strong area for him. Hopefully he regains his form in Origin.

Are you referring mostly to the game when he was played at centre and fumbled the two high balls?

Chanel Matautia and Tyler Randell both made the NSW residents side too. Randell seems like one of those guys that everyone had huge raps on but has not kicked on.

Probably.

At the time I acknowledged he was out of position but honestly, I'd argue that with a guy of his experience you would reasonably expect him to make those catches regardless.

I don't think he has been at his best defensively either this year; he's made a few poor decisions here and there.

He's down on form.

Like others, I don't think he's playing at the standard expected to be playing origin. His form hasn't been terrible, but it has been solid at best. I do agree that his form under the highball has concerned me. I've actually been hoping that they would kick to the other wing due to this. Form can come and go, but class is permanent. It wouldn't surprise me if he came out in game 3 and had a blinder.

i think what helped McManus is that he can play left and right winger with no problem
whereas Taufua and Mansour are both left wingers but the vacant wing position is the right wing
I think that, and that Jimmy was there before is what tipped it to his favour

We will see a much happier Boyd from now on.

Let's just say... lock up your girlfriends

Excellent performances from our 2 boys for NSW. I honestly thought they were our best and saved the Blues on numerous occasions.

Boyd? Meh....... I just really dislike the guy.

I do love how it both Scott and McManus had question marks over their selections, got heavily criticized and whatnot, yet still had excellent showings. Especially Scott. If Gallen got the player of the series, then surely Scott wasn't that far behind him?

The right hand edge in the first half was excellent. Not sure what happened in the second, some dumb mistakes led to one try and then soft defence from the dud Reynolds. But still. Loved Jimmy's two try savers on Inglis and Thurston. Just quality stuff.

Scott was an absolute monster tonight. Such an inspirational player.

I really hope such a performance can inspire our guys to perform for the rest of the year. If everyone puts in like Beau did tonight, we'll have no problems.

I think Gallen being named player of the series is more a culmination of his efforts over the last few years. Gal was good as always but I thought the award could have gone to Hayne or Scott.

I thought NSW really suffered when Scott (and Gallen were off the field) and I don't think it was much a coincidence that qld's 1st try was a result of missed tackles by their replacements in Lewis and Tamou

Sorry but Beau Scott should have won player of the series. He monsters Slater out of the game in game one. Was dominant on the right in game 2. Gallen can piss off. All he does is stay in the middle making hit ups and mouths off without rest. Beau was quality all the way. Sure Gallen works hard but that is kind of the point of playing in the middle in origin. Beau had to mark the most lethal left side in the game's history. He did it superbly.

I would hardly say McManus was excellent...

7 runs for 40m gained
0 tackle breaks, line breaks, offloads etc.
2 tackles (try savers)

Two defensive plays is all he had. Good plays, but not enough in an 80 minute game. He held out the biggest meter eater, tackle breaker and a bloke with 7 more tries in 5 less games.

He didn't justify his selection. We were pumped and spent most the night bringing the ball off our line and he was ineffective at helping us do so. Last night's game was the ideal game for Mansour to be in.

NSW wasted an opportunity last night to increase depth in 2015. Playing it safe failed massively. As it usually does. I just hope that Mullen pushes out Reynolds next year. He was by far Queensland's player of the series. Scott started the series slow, but from about half time in Game 1 has been a beast.

His runs were mainly hitups
how can you get many runs from that
he got no kick returns because QLD knew that it was pointless kicking to him because he is solid as a bank

He had those two try saving tackles
but he also cleaned up inglis when he was pushing people off left and right
he made more than 2 tackles because he has a 1on1 tackle but neither of his try savers were 1on1
He couldnt do anything in attack because there is nothing there

and being a massive metre eater in club land is nothing compared to origin
every tackle QLD had 3-4 people
no one was making many metres from kick returns

and i seriously doubt that mansour could have pulled off those try saving tackles especially from his unfamiliar side of the field

well scott, anyone thinking he was bad this series has no idea

Still f**king upset that Mansour didn't get picked? They hardly targeted his side in the second half, they rarely spread the ball out to him. I don't think Tupou had great stats either, that's just how Origin went last night. One mistake, one slip up in his 160 minutes of Origin in the last two years.

I don't think Mansour's night would have been any better. I think it would have been worse. He would have been targeted all night long and there's always a chance he could have been broken in the first half.
