McLinden had a clause in his contract thta said he could negotiate with international clubs, if he really wanted to go to England and had his heart set on it, what could Elliott do?

While i dont blame elliot for Maccas departure, nor do i blame him for any other departures so far, he's coaching manual is one dimensional, he appears to have no comprehension of attacking rugby league and i dont think he is a coach that can take us to a premiership. None of this is a reflection on him as a person as im sure he is a deadset champion bloke, but as a coach IMO he isnt cutting it.

His resignation certainlly wouldnt sadden me one bit, i would jump for joy but i am willing to give him one more year, he has had one good year and one ordinary year, 05 is his D-day or rather year for him. You've got one season Elliot, one season to prove me wrong and show that you do have a clue.

If not i will personally drive to Canberra and protest outside Raiders HQ, demanding your resignation... of corse you could save me the hassle and quit now :)

My question to those who support the management of the club at the moment..... how many other players need to decide to leave before we recognise something is wrong?

I think it's a bit early to say Elliott should go and if Fielden comes on board, we will have a hot side for next year, one capable of doing much better than this years team.

I've been fairly happy with our recruitment and McLinden would have been squeezed out or at best found himself fighting for a spot on the bench. 2004 was the year for him to prove himself and he failed IMO which means he was not the right man for the job.

Elliott still has my support. I'm not over the moon about this year, but with the players we've recruited, I'm very optimistic about next year.

Tonio, over to you........

I think it is crazy to call for Elliott's head over Mclinden's departure. Also in 2002 Elliott took us to 8th place, in 2003 4th, yes last year was a disapointment but can you really put all the blame on Elliott, the players were the ones that miss the tackles, dropped the ball etc. All Elliott can do is give them the game plan and train them to execute it, now should the players make mistakes we can't blame him for it,
Even though he did make some (what seems to us) as strange selections, I think he did what he thought was right.
I still have faith in Elliott, in 2003 he took us from a side that scraped into the 8, into a premiership contender.
Simple question, would any of the people who want Elliott head be willing to take on his job?

I am not saying the coach should be sacked. I have made my position clear on this before. However, the whole management structure..... something seems to be amiss..... Happy players don't seek releases before their contracts run out..... Something is wrong.

So did you want an unhappy Mark McLinden with severe wanderlust at the club holding back an up and comer like Carney, Dobson, Zillman?

Come on Bay, think about it - this is Macca's call. If he wanted to go then management have done the right thing in granting the release.

Don't turn everything into an anti-management crusade. It makes you look like the baddie from a cartoon who only has one point of view and will stop at nothing to try to get their flawed plan to succeed.

Macca is a complex character and as sad as it is to see him go, if this is what he wanted then i wish him all the best.
