7 getting the rights to the footy is only good if the commentators are. Yes we're all looking forward to no more Johns, Gus and other drop kicks but who else is there apart from Voss, Roach and the dopes at fox ???

I can see the PNG side being a disaster unless they play in PNG but are based here.

Agree. I have never heard or seen anyone so inept behind a microphone as Johns, Fittler and Gus.
They have no personality that makes you want to stay tuned.
I can't think of the tall guy who's been around for a while, calls some games and does a lot of different sports on foxtel. He would go good I think..damn can't recall his name.
Whilst talking about commentating I love watching the NRLW but I turn the volume down as I can't stand listening to the female commentating. Their voices spoil football...sorry but that's how a couple of mates feel too so I imagine I'm not alone in this.

I am amazed that the Federal government and the NRL are involved in a $600m deal.
With the Aussie Rules and soccer nipping on our heals of our league territory, I would have preferred to spend all our money (not PNG's) on helping develop our groups in NSW and Qld and expand from our eastern board areas.
Perth ok but I'm not sold on PNG.
People are say that we are naive not expanding our game. Well we don't seem to be doing a bad job, holding our own with TV deals and ever increasing salary cap etc
I would like our own turf to be a fortress and promote the game especially in country area.

I agree, but Perth has been tried before and wasn’t too successful.
I believe they made a decision, I thought it was Perth?
I just looked, Port Moresby is a similar time zone (-1hr) to the east coast and they have a population of over 10million and I believe have eradicated most of the head hunters over there hahaha

I've spend a huge amount of time flying in helos all over PNG and the trouble will be outside the grounds not inside. League has been played in Port Moresby for years.
However rockin on after the game will with be in the player's motel (probably the Airways) and not down the local pub or nightclub.
So my point is there will be limited player/fan interaction. This would be done at the ground somehow.

Their entire salary will most likely be tax-exempt.Even that wouldn’t be enough to lure me to the shithole.
Not sure where pre season will be but Every second week or so players will be back in AUS for a few days.

The tax free carrot will attract a few players as well as the paid for accommodation and meals etc.
