Bulldog force said:Final Fight 2 and Streets of Rage are hard to separate... they are both awesome Beat-em-up games that dominated the early-mids 90s and I suppose it comes down to the console you prefer. I loved SoR on the Master System... so in a very close race, that wins it for mine.

You know, I always thought Australian Rugby League and ARL 96 were always the same game, just titled differently. I was wrong. ARL 96 was released on the Mega Drive, where as Australian Rugby League was the PC spin-off.How about World Cup rugby 1995? That's what arl 96 was based off and was the much better version of the 2 games.
This is one of those 'each-to-their-own' things. I loved both games, but because SoR was the first of the 2 I played, it had more of an impact on me. Also probably a tad biased because Sega Master System was my first (and favorite) console ever.I don't think there really is any comparison. Final fight wins hands down, especially when you throw in the arcade edition. Streets of rage was good, but it still felt like an extended version of double dragon. Plus you could play 3 players at once on final fight at the arcades (well when it came out you could)
Thanks mate. I'm going to look into it, but Sega Master System is the one I'm best at - that's what I used heaps growing up. Also I tried to make a Jurassic Park playthrough... I suck at that game big time lol, it's so hard. I need to watch a pro at it and have a go.Cool video man. You should enter some of the speed runs for NES they have going on some channels!

Also a little bonus for you guys. In 1985 the game Commando was released - this game is actually the game that Mercs was the sequel to. Arcade version of them game showed simplified graphics, but very Mercs like - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmqfyKzY6bQ&feature=share&list=UUCPW1FhYKRu-l8GpeuPoqQw&index=3
Can anyone here recommend a good Neo Geo emu? I currently use Kawaks and don't really like it.
I might give it a try. Which version of MAME do you use?I just used the mame one.
I agree. I love Mercs, the Mega Drive version is better in my opinion for the points you listed - plus the graphics are also a bit better. The music as you said was the gem for this generation of games and it makes a big difference.Mercs is and was so underrated. I only had the megadrive version though. One thing that annoyed me a little about the master system was that there were so many games without in-game music. Makes such a big difference.
Love how the bosses explode in the megadrive version and the music kicks in. Very satisfying.
I'm currently stuck doing this Indiana Jones review for master system. Its incredibly difficult (for me anyway). Whats next for you?
