The first fighting game i ever saw that made my jaw drop was Soul Blade on the playstation. The intro was completely amazing stuff for the time. I bought a playstation not long after seeing this at a mates place, as 16 year old working at the trout farm in Albury for $50 a day, it was a lot of days pay back then.

Soul Blade was amazing. I remember being able to knock the weapon out of the opponents hand weakening them a bit. Love the music too, so unique and sort of dark-ages like... and I remember one stage was on a floating platform. This game was monumental.

It was def out before 1998, moot point i know but i think it was released in either late 1996 or early 1997?? Which i guess makes it even more impressive. Takis bewb wobble at the end of the japanese 'break down' and the castle collapsing from the catapult/boulder always made my jaw drop as a kid. Also the animation of the water when Li Long is on the big raft was also hard on material, console games never looked that good prior to this game, to have that sort of game available in your own living room was awesome.

I still think it was the best of all the SC games, that last one was pure shit. For character depth, soundtrack, new style of gameplay, it was all first class.

Ok so I'm playing Saints Row 4, right (I know I know, not a Retro game), but then I come across this mission that shook the foundations of unbelievable to a whole new level. I know the SR games are known for having weird things, but this took it to a whole new level. A game called "Saints of Rage" based on "Streets of Rage" turns the game into a 16 bit beat 'em up, complete with exact same voices you'd hear in 16 bit games as well as one of those cheesy "winners don't use drug$" arcade things. Take a look for yourself (now my video footage).

Lol that is pretty crazy. Doesn't have that same golden feel as the original ofcourse.

Btw new review is up, WWF Royal Rumble for Sega Megadrive.

Not a Retro game, but an online 'Webisodes' game known as Jack French, a detective. All 3 webisodes are up (5 vids in total).

Do pitfall 2. It seems easy until you realise you only have 20mins to complete it.
Gee's I haven't played that game in ages. I'll have to have a few rusty test runs before recording it though.

At the moment, I'm trying to do "Dinobasher starring Bignose the Caveman" which wasn't officially released on the Master System, only a prototype (which I'm lucky enough to have). It's actually ported from the NES game "Big Nose the Caveman" but stone the crows, the Sega Master System version is so freaking tricky!
