Millward did extend Aitken and Lafai long term despite poor form the previous season and the fact that no one was chasing their signature. A short term extension with some performance KPI's relating to an option in favour of the Club would have been the way to go at the time.

The truth is Possm...Mary did not have time to get involved with the $$$$$$$ of how much to pay etc...as he was dealing with player managers as well in the early stages.
He is still and advised with the last say re recruitment / retention when the figures are presented to him.
Millward does do some finding but does not appoint and let anyone go on his own.
