He king hit a player half his size who wasnt even looking.

While it might not be his usual go, the photo of him standing over a flattened Fien said it all.

Off you go, Ricko.

Hypocrite

What a shock, a response without substance for JM.

Why am I suddenly a hypocrite?

Because you are "trolling", as you would say. You had a go at me for it.

I'm not trying to start another argument, it just seems unfair tht according to you, I can't post in other forums, yet you can and bag players while doing so.

Considering there are only two teams left, there isnt much else to do JM.

Bag players? I just cant believe people are defending a guy who smacked someone half his size who wasnt watching.

I'm not surprised he will miss the Grand Final....I was prepared the moment I saw the hit on replay at the ground.

Now can we please move on??

Ribs I'm so glad you are a model citizen and never done anything wrong in your life  FFS it was a prelim final and everyone's emotions were charged..Fein started it Ricko finished it and now he pays the ultimate price...off you go now.

GO THE ROOSTERS!!!

I agree.

Also when I posted in the St.George forum my team was out, so there wasn't much to do either ;-)

Fien gave Fittler a nudge or push to the head at best. Fittler over reacted and Ricketson made a prick of himself. Simple.

Then it should have been penalised by Simpkins as you are not allowed to touch another players head. It was Simpkins fault

I think the punishment is way too exessive for the crime. Which isn't to say he shouldn't be punished for what he did.
I wouldn't mind if the NRL introduced fines instead of suspensions for incidents less than a grading of 5.

I know how I would feel if Hindmarsh was suspended just before the GF for a similar incident - not good.

Again,I think the Roosters have got away with a lot of things they shouldn`t have this season, but suspending Ricko for something as minor as that forcing him to miss the GF is disgraceful! He`s never been a dirty player and if players are going to start getting suspended for throwing punches, the game will start to resemble AFL and I don`t want that!

It was a "push and shove" between Fitler and Fien.

Ricketson came in as a "3rd man" - first thing that would of counted against him.

He hit Fien high and from outside Fien's field of vision - there are the second and third thing that went against him.

Those 3 combined makes it a surprise that Ricketson stayed on the field (yes, with the touch judge's report I was expecting to see O'Donnell go - if Ch.Nein had caught the incident on camera he might have ..... and if Ch.Nein had shown Ricketson's hit on Fien before the Ref & Touchies had finished speaking Ricketson might also have gone, or at least be named instead of ?Cayless?). If it was Round 3 of a season instead of Week 3 of the finals he might have gone.

Honestly, with the video evidence against Ricketson 3 weeks is probably less than what a player would get if this happened in a regular season game.

ps: the difference between the Price hit (I don't believe he got it downgraded though) and the Mason punch (sorry for swearing but I don't know HTF the penalty went to Mason on that) was that those incidents were between 2 players ... something the Refs and Judiciary tend to be less harsh on. Ricketson was the third player into the incident which put him into the Judiciary.

Why cant he just serve his time next year??

i mean, why does it have to be exactly after the week he does the crime?

everyone knows his guilty, but he has had a clean record all year.

so it should be something like that.... u cant equate how many regular season games a finals game is worth, it should be just done next season IF that player has had a clean record all year... which in ricketons' case, fittler's case and finch's case has happend.

Morely's been quiet all finals.. expect some big hits from him..

GO YOU ROOSTERS!!

Actually, watch the replay again and you'll see that David Myles was already involved. While it's evident in the replays that he was going in to break up the scuffle, it can be argued that in the heat of the moment, Ricketson could be forgiven for thinking that what was unfolding in front of him was a two-on-one situation, thus making him the fourth in to even things up. I know it may sound far-fetched, but watch the replay objectively at full speed.

I'm not saying it excuses Ricketson, but I don't think he's the thug that everyone says he is. Admittedly he should have gone for Myles because everyone knows Fien is never going to be a threat to anyone - he hit the deck after copping the fleshy part of a forearm on the chin. Myles copped a good fist to the chin from Mason and then proceeded to have Mason running like a girl when he came back at him.

Anyway, I'm not unhappy to see him suspended. I know if the tables were turned I'd be wanting some sort of suspension to be served (unless it was the Doggies, because everyone knows they don't get suspended).
