I am of the opinion it is still to early to truly judge Stuart as a coach....Sure, he's had some modicum of success over the past 3 years...but then - lokk at the players he's had at his disposal!!...

Are they the same players whom nobody here has rated for the last three seasons?

i like how ricky stuart said it will take 10 weeks for the team to gel with all the "new players".
Look at the raiders. Completely new halves and they are undefeated.
Tigers are playing with a bunch of kids and they have won 3 in a row
Manly have had new additions and have won 3/4 games they have played.

Ricky and the Spin doctoring.

True that CS, but you gota remember that its more about fitting into the coaches style and finch has been out with broken hands and firman hasnt played for a year...i think its warranted.

coaches style? maybe the coach should adapt to his players.
Ricky cant expect the new players to play like the roosters of 2002...impossible.
Sooner or later a team gets caught out when they play the same style.
Wayne Bennett broncos in 2000 played completely different to the broncos of the 90s...completely. Why? Because the players he had in 2000 were 80% different to teams of the past. He knew TC was not steve renouf...he knew Lote was not a wille carne...he knew Thorn was not a terry matterson.
Maybe ricky is the one that has to change....change is the sign of a great coach.

thats why he has given it 10 weeks. we still have a few players from previous seasons, its not like a total rebuilding exercise.

its only round 5

i dont think the roosters will miss out on the 8, but they better pull their finger out.
Remember the stat on teamslosing back to back GFs? They dont play so well the next yr.

manly 82/3
balimain 88/89
stg 92/3

all of those teams have big let downs the next yr

Yep. Stuart made one of the all-time pathetic comments at the post match conference in "hoping" that Jason Smith was actually injured when that penalty was reversed. He would have known that Smith received medical treatment and stiches from the high shot on him - yet he still reflected on that moment in the game as if somehow the referee lost it for them. What a joke. Throughout the game his team couldn't hold onto the ball to save themselves and apart from Ryan Cross, their backline was predictable and pedestrian, Chris Walker was playing some game that vaguely resembled netball and they got beaten by a team that only turned up for 60 minutes.

It's good to finally see how he will perform under media pressure.

U mean those players that nobody except the NSW, QLD, British, New Zealand and Australian selectors rated??...Yeah - those are the ones!!

The Roosters have a lot more problems then a 1/2 back issue.

For starters they have a lot of young blokes in the lower grades that should be getting a go ahead of some of the more seasoned first graders and purchased players namely Walker, Monaghan.

They have some players who are showing the signs of playing non stop pretty much for 3 seasons.

Adrian Morley has had his game changed from a dynamic impact player of the bench into a worker and grafting forward like Ricketson and Fitzgibbon. So we now have a backrow of players all very similar.

We have some young forwards getting a go at present like Hannant but I would like him to start the game at prop with Cayless not Morley at prop as has been the case of recent times.

There up and in defensive line has been tinkered with so now it is in effect an up and sliding defence which is catching them out a couple of passes wide of the ruck.

There domination of the play the ball area is gone and that comes down to enthusiasm as does there kick chase which is not even in the same ball park as it was 18 months ago. It started to decline a bit last year.

Personally we should take the road the Tigers have taken and start blooding some young kids from the lower grades and take it from there.

I agree. Which makes purchases like Monaghan seem like a waste of very valuable money.

Blooding youngsters takes time though and does not bring instant success. Can Roosters fans handle a couple of seasons without being genuine title contenders?

To all you ppl who say look at the players Ricky had at his disposal, no wonder he had so much success, you're a bunch of know-nothings!

Ricky has had coaching success in every team he's coached, from u-18's, to jersey flegg, to the Roosters! (and look out QLD, coz he's gonna suceed with NSW too) When he took over in 2002 he transformed the side into the benchmark, something Graham Murray failed to do with an equally strong playing roster!

It took Ricky half a season to shape the team in 2002, but once they clicked they never looked back. This time we've lost the core of our team (Brad Fittler) and rebuilding may take slightly longer but there is nothing to suggest that he won't do a great job of it.

If I have one complaint it's that he should give Firman and Finch a few runs together as Finch is struggling to cover for Wing's (who is a marvellous hooker) lack of playmaking ability.
