i agree the refereeing was extremely one sided but when the refs are giving you a hammering already you can't affford to give away even more blatant penalties that are 100% avoidable

No kidding, thats why we lost (the combination of the two). Neither is excusable.

Bullshit penalties aside, the single biggest thing that pissed me off about last night was the blatant inconsistency with the forward passes..
Sandow to Kelepi gets pulled up , whilst Minichiello scores off an even "flatter" Kelly pass.
That there ladies and gentlemen is your 12 point turnaround.

I actually thought the first Tits try was a forward pass - Albert Kelly Skips across the 10 metre line - behind it the whole time.....he throws the pass from behind the line, which is then caught about 3-4 metres in front.

Of course, commentary doesnt say anything - as its a Qld team and Ben Ikin is an absolute a$$ bandit....

Replay after replay confirmed it for mine....

I thought Kelly was marginally in front of the Titans player that played at the ball when he scored his try to take then to the lead.

i did in normal motion but on slow motion replay i think he was inline, but IMO the refs should have at least checked it. They couldn't wait to point to the spot.

for me the turning point was the stupid knock on in the scrum after that brilliant hayne try scoring tackle in the 2nd half. The titans scored from that and we lost the game from there

Parramatta Eels coach Ricky Stuart fined $10,000 for ref rant

The NRL issued a breach notice fining the Eels $10,000 for Stuart's comments tonight.
“Coaches are allowed to question or criticise decisions but there are some clear boundaries that every club should be aware of,” General Manager of Football Operations Nathan McGuirk said.

“We believe that on this occasion those boundaries were breached.”

So why didn't Potter get fined last week?

This may be a blessing in disguise but the pessimist in me thinks it could just put the referees further off side.

I didn't - thought he was a mile offside!

But things like sandow kicking for no one on third or fourth tackle foowed up by a Ben smith penalty were just as f**king useless as the decisions.

Yet again our supposedly senior players make errors you wouldn't cop from a rookie - on a week in week out basis.

Agree, kicking game was not good enough. Too many dumb kicks, not finding the grass and without chasers.

Kick chase was very weak too. They made some easy metres off kick returns. Players just seemed to want to take a breather instead of applying pressure.

kick chase and marker defence are our 2 BIGGEST problems both discipline issues imo
I don't think it's a discipline issue in that they don't want to do hard things. The more and more I watch certain players, the more I think we have quite a few really dumb footballers who just don't see the opportunities/necessities/dangers of simple things like good kick chases. Then again maybe they're too proud to do the simple things because they don't think they get noticed

i don't think it's hard to run drills on kick chase over and over again until it becomes ingrained

Whether we want to admit to it or not, the game is driven by star power.

And the NRL's biggest personality right now is Sonny Bill Williams and yet the game has failed miserably to promote him right. Friday's game was pumped up throughout the media as far back as the moment Williams signed with the Roosters to return to the NRL. It went off again the moment the draw came out.

It was counted down from the opening round and finally we got to Sonny Bill-Bulldogs week and ... where was the effort? All the hype was media driven with little assistance from the code or clubs.

I suppose it shouldn't have been a surprise. We tried desperately hard to get Israel Folau and when we needed help from the NRL they didn't understand it at all, dragged their heels and we lost him.

To show you how simple the help we were looking for was, it centred on one issue. We asked them what he was going to be valued at so we could get to that figure and register his contract. They refused to give us a figure, instead telling us to register the contract first and they would then tell us whether it was sufficient.

We asked them just to give us a figure and we would get there. They continually refused, even after we asked for a ballpark figure.

In the end we had no choice but to try to guess his market value and by the time we finally got there it had dragged on for weeks and Folau's management, concerned at delays, had found time to open negotiations elsewhere and he was gone. He was a player that should have been selling our game. The same as Sonny Bill Williams.
