haven't read the previous pages but whatever happened to Tim Smith? Surely he was rookie of the year at one stage?

Dropped off the bloody planet!

Dropped off the bloody planet!

Plays in the ESL. Kills it. But then again Ben Pommeroy would kill it over there.

Kearney dropped Sandow . When Parra got Ricky everyone said he would do wonders for Sandow.

Nek minnit.

Ricky drops him. So Supercoach Ricky has been able to do absolutely no better with him than Superdudcoach Kearney.

Sandow is reminding me more and more of Benji these days. In about 2011 they were both electrifying at times while always being iffy in defense. Since then they both look a step slower, their defense is even worse than it was and neither run the ball enough.

Serious question, when is the last time any one regular 1st grader missed the finals 6 years in a row? Could be going back decades.

Point is, wasn't Ricky meant to do him a world of good?

Play off for the grand final
Storm minus Cameron smith v sharks
Storm win 28 nil

1 week later
Des coached team v storm minus Cameron Smith
Des wins 40 nil

If anything, the fact the Sharks got kept to nil by a team that got kept to nil the following week shows how crap the Sharks really were that year. You really expect to win a premiership with the second worst attack in the comp (scoring only 3 converted tries more than the Bulldogs, who were the wooden spooners)?

there were times where Cronulla looked like they could win the comp. .

You've gotta be joking there.

The Sharks - although finishing 3rd - massively overachieved that season (only Penrith finishing 2nd in 2010 supersedes that) and were never going to win the comp with the 2nd worst attack in the competition, scoring only 18pts more than the Bulldogs who were wooden spooners. A team that remained scoreless in their best chance of a GF spot since 2002 to a team that got kept scoreless in the GF. That's poor. No surprise many Sharks fans I knew at the time at uni were very happy to see the back of Brett "Legend (according to the folk at Fox Sports)" Kimmorley.

If anything, 1999 was the one that got away from them and Sharks fans know that. Not far behind were 2001 and 2002 where they had a much bigger chance than 2008, but the Knights and Warriors produced the clutch plays in those Preliminary Finals when it mattered the most and that's all that matters at the end of the day when the full-time siren sounds, not the "What ifs?" or "What could've been?" moments in those matches

Stuart is a f**king dud. End of story. Won a comp with Uncle Nick's chequebook and has done f**k all else in a decade and a bit of coaching.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: two of the best players over the last two decades - Brad Fittler (2002-2004) and Andrew Johns (2005 Origin series) - carried Stuart, and he's tried to base his coaching career and live off the past success he achieved as coach when he had those two players at his disposal. As a previous members said on this thread, him and Tim Sheens have tried to live off their past glories and no surprise they've been given preferential treatment from the media in general (especially from the Telegraph, who have the label "The Best RL mind in the game" next to his picture in his Sunday Telegraph column:lol:)

His last two years at the Roosters without Fittler (who, although they were dudded in that 2005 Friday night match vs Manly that kept them out of the finals, they were still a huge shadow of the team they were the previous season even with all their other rep players), as well as his tenure at the Sharks, prove to me that he is an impostor and that any team who is stupid enough to touch him with a 30 foot pole and lure him as their club's head coach after his time at Parramatta is over deserves to get the crap that is heading their way.

In the meantime, I'm looking forward to seeing more of this at the Eels whilst hearing more unfounded allegations of biased refereeing against them, dummy spits, swearing at cameramen and lots more, from this guy:

They finished equal on points with the Storm and the Sea Eagles and were never more than 4 points off top spot. Melbourne dropped their first finals game and barely got through their second (with Smith picking up a suspension) a grand final spot looked likely although they fell apart badly in that one.

I didn't expect us to get better in the first season, especially considering we lost Hindmarsh and have had quite a few injuries, but I never expected us to get worse. We've recruited well so far for 2014, but I just don't see this team challenging for the top eight for at least three years.

Question is how much is Ricky getting paid for his vaudeville, less than Madge and Robbo surely. Brownie is still languishing because he must be too expensive. Pity the Eels can't afford to entice a coach that is cultworthy.
