My take on it is that even if the sqaud is full of nuffies with a half decent coach the Eels should not be getting lapped every week you also dont come out at the start of season and claim there will be a few big scores against your team.. Then have a mass group sacking infront of the entire squad..

I was like loudtstrat......I would for some insane reason stick up for Ricky.

Now I look at parra and see the same horror that us Sharks fans went through with him.

Piss him off as quick as you can.
I believe he really does mean well, but he hasn't got the footy smarts to be a coach.

How many chances/years/money does he get?

If he hadn't been such a good player he wouldn't have been let anywhere near a coaches clipboard.

Big difference is the Eels have juniors and sponsors so we can build from bottom up the sharks need to build from outside. With no money

That squad underacheived. 2003 was an epic fail given the talent in that team. And he inherited the vast majority of that quality. Since then has been a consistent loser at Cronulla, NSW and Parra.

Shut the f**k up you f**king idiot, how old were you in 2003, 12?

Epic fail fmd.

Rep players or future rep players(Originor international) from Penriths 03 side: Gower, Priddis, Wesser, Girdler, Rooney, Lewis, Waterhouse, Tony P, Joe G, Whatuira, Sattler.

We won the minor premiership, the GF, and then the GF replay round 1 2004, we had that roosters team covered.

Your birth was a massive fail.

You'd want to hope you don't have a few promising young talents in the halves.

Because Ricky will soon tear through them.

Ricky's problem has never been getting a team to generally perform in the short term, but his intensity can wear down on a squad during a campaign - See his stint as Australia coach during world cup.

But the main problem is he can not construct a team. His decisions at Cronulla still have me shaking my head, i.e. getting rid of DeGois to replace him with Corey Hughes, etc. This is why he has a tendency to go well early on with teams (Cronulla in 2008, and Roosters 2002, 2003), but as his team is constructed they struggle.

The issue for Parra is they have a crap squad to begin with. He tells 12 players they aren't wanted, but doesn't have the players in the market to replace them.

As bad as that Eels squad may be, a decent coach would surely have given them some sort of defensive pattern to work with by now.

All you need do to score against the eels is go to one of the edges and they have no answer.

Manly just simply ran around them last night. There weren't an overabundance of tricky offloads or set moves, Manly just spread the ball wide and went through Sandow or Roberts or one of the other blokes defending wide.

A decent coach would have come up with a plan for this by now. Having a shit roster is not an excuse. Even if it means dropping someone like Roberts or Sandow and replacing them with a back rower. You may completely stifle your attack but getting beaten 10 - nil is better than conceding a try every time someone runs at your halfback and getting 40 points put on you each week imo. At least until you can buy some reinforcements and get something happening for next year.

Look at what Jason Taylor did with them a few years back or what he did with Souths in the short time he was there.
Atm Parramatta just look completely clueless.

agreed, thats why i've always thought he'd be a better origin coach as he just needs that high intensity to get his players up for a few weeks.

i do wonder what he's like with the players, when he says at press conferences that people should expect more floggings i wonder whether he goes back and yells at the players, or he just goes "i said that to take the heat off you" (didnt work either way)

Wrong. In the last 24 years we have a minor premiership and another top 4 finish.
And three sucessive grand finals and a premiership is an epic fail.:lol:

Thats why I dont listen to geniuss with some sort of anti Stuart agenda, because of crap like that. Three straight legal grand finals, something Bellamy, Bennett, Hasler or anyone since Tim Sheens at the Raiders couldnt do. And thats supposed to be crap?

possibly true.
Having a shit roster is not an excuse.
Of course. Any under 18's side could defend against Manly. Talent has no bearing on results........

Tbf we smashed the shit out of you in 2004 and also won at Penrith park in 2003 IIRC Penrith, Roosters and Bulldogs were the dominant teams during those seasons and seemed to all beat each other. I'm sure BunniesMan actually wasn't born in 2003 either.

But yeah it was a strong team that deserved to win the comp. They won about 11 in a row at one point and were absolutely dynamite in attack. I never really understood why people said we choked, it's not a choke if you lose to the best team of the year.

Stuart chose Brett Finch over Johnathan Thurston. Says it all.

There was a game played in 2006 where he had Jamie Soward at fullback, Brett Finch at hooker, Craig Fitzgibbon at prop and Craig Wing on the bench. That's when he had lost the plot.

Well maybe not completely covered but we could beat yous on any given day, and vice versa.

I just get the shits when people act like 03 was a fluke. We were well and truly as good a footy side as the Roosters, only were knocked out the the 04 Prelim final by the Dogs, so it was very close to a GF repeat of Roosters and Panthers.

UM OK..
Not sure what that has to do with Ricky Stuart and his woeful coaching record.

Those juniors would want to be signed up if they are any good.
I doubt they will want to play for a coach who is not going to help their career.

When Ricky coached my team I sat there and watched us lose every home game bar 1 a couple of seasons ago.
He set records for consecutive losses.
That was with rep players in the team.

Then when he was told to get results he spat the dummy and quit.
Not "sacked" like he told everyone.

You Parra fans would be wise to start up a petition to get someone else.

Loudstrat, I also think Stuart is doing a great job with Parra.

However being a Saints fan I might be looking at this from a completely different angle :p

C'mon 'ol mate, can't let that one pass. Sticky should have won 4 gf's with the team Little Artie left him, instead his coaching ignorance caused them to wither on the vine. Ironically, Stuart is a perfect fit for the Eels, can't f**k up something that's f**ked

We also had a Dally M winner and a bloke robbed of a jersey on the 03 Kangaroo tour in Preston Campbell.

Martin Lang and Ben Ross played origin for QLD while Joel Clinton played for Australia.

Alongside Preston only Luke Swain and Shane Rodney never played origin or internationals and Rodney played a few games for City.

Obviously a team of f**king nuffies.

I love how people pick and choose where they give credit to coaches.

Because people hate Stuart they give him no credit for keeping that Roosters team up to a high enough standard to make 3 consecutive grand finals and win one. Only Melbourne has been able to stay at the top for three straight years in recent times by cheating.

Didn't he take an ordinary Sharks side pretty far one year as well? Not entirely familiar with the situation there but I remember him having some good with the bad.

He at least deserves another year at Parra to prove himself given the shit team he started with

Yep until the perennial losers imploded when Bird decided to glass his girlfriend and Seymour got injured.
