Its honestly a nightmare. Even just after a concert by public transport you will probably have to jog back to central. Not exactly family friendly

Just found the quote.

DR: Is one of your goals to implement a model used in the AFL, where every Sydney team either plays out of ANZ Stadium or Allianz, with less games played at suburban grounds?

TG: If you look at the game's strategic plan and they talk about averaging 20,000 a game by 2017 and 400,000 members, you can't do that if the current stadium policies are in place.
You can't do that playing as many games as we do at Leichhardt, Brookvale Oval.

DR: How soon before we see this change?

TG: I would say between two to four years you'll see a significant shift.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not calling for the death of suburban footy, I'd love to play a game a year at Belmore.
But, financially, any more than one game and it just wouldn't be viable.

Most but not all Sydney clubs could play at the SFS or ANZ without too many dramas. If the teams are winning and the tickets are cheaper, they will still come

The biggest issue for people at Allianz...getting there and getting out of there.

Even for "big" games we struggle to fill Allianz Stadium. If you are using the M5 to get to Moore Park on any given day you are fighting traffic to get there. Once you are there, it's a matter of parking, unless you have a sneaky spot to park, you have to use the paid parking.

If you think Allianz is all great, you haven't tried to escape Moore Park post match. You can easily sit in traffic for 90 minutes just trying to get back onto Moore Park rd.

I don't get why the NRL and AFL haven't gotten the local council to fix the roads around there. The problem is everybody is leaving on a one way street, its ridiculous.

Can see it working for everyone except manly, cronulla and Penrith. They all have small localised support and geographic distances that would put off that small supporter base attending. I can see he NRL moving to have all but those three playing out of Allianz or anz, what happens to those three without the crowds and corporate facilitiesx of the others time will tell.

I guess I do see it happening with some, i.e. brookie and tigers home grounds are shit. But Kogarah has just had a heap of funding put in, have a good stadium and great corporate facilities. Don't see them abandoning it especially after the R2K push a decade ago.

Absolute bullshit.

I used to drive the M5 all the time to get to the SFS and it was never bad unless something out of the ordinary happened such as a break down. Nowhere near as bad as driving the M5 during peak hour or driving to ANZ via King George's Road which is the ultimate pain in the arse.

Parking isn't an issue around the SFS and neither is escaping the SFS unless there is 30,000 people. The only time it ever took me a long time to get out of the area was 2010 at the SCG. Even this year against Souffs it wasn't too bad.

Dumb, dumb, dumb. The transport in Sydney is woeful, your casual fan isnt going to spend well over an hour traveling to a game to sit in a soulless stadium with a crowd of 10k. Half of Manly's fans who go to home games are locals and kids looking for something to do, they arent traveling into the city to watch the game

In a dream scenario there would be an elite stadium built out west, north of the bridge and south of sydney, thats the only viable way I see all the teams in the NRL playing in state of the art stadiums and having healthy crowds.

The fact that Wests Tigers (a West Sydney club) play their big games out of Allianz, and South Sydney (a Sydney club) play out of ANZ, shows the level of genius we're dealing with here.

Both teams are getting paid to play at those stadiums. All it shows is money is the main priority for teams.

Well the past 3 times I have parked at SFS and tried to leave it took around an hour to just get out of the f**king parking lot, it's woeful.

I'll give you points for changing tack in your death riding of Sydney clubs.

For paid parking Fox Studio's is the go, never park in the shit-fest that is directly outside of the SFS or in the school. There's usually parking on Oxford St too.

Nowhere near as bad as driving to or parking near ANZ.

Yeah paid parking is alright, but League is a working class game and many of the fans aren't the most financially well off including myself, forcing them to pay for expensive tickets, food, drinks and parking is just going to turn them away.

The thought of more NRL games at anz is hardly inspiring!

I can see a central strategy working for most clubs except manly, Penrith and cronulla. Not sure what the answer is for them as they are drawing low crowds as is and their facilities are hardly of the standard to encourage more fans to go to games. Maybe the NRL needs to accept Sydney will end up a two tier level with 4-5 clubs drawing 20k+ and 2-3 not able to achieve more than 15-16k.

People keep smashing me for having this opinion like I'm some sort of extremist....

Incorrect.

People keep "smashing you" because you are a dribbling f**kwit with less credibility than Bill Shorten, Joe Hockey, Bill Harrigan, Ray Hadley or Alan Jones.
