This thread is even better than the GF Gameday thread now.

Look, the Raiders copped a rough call. When Cummins signalled 6 again, one of us was going to got screwed given that it wasn't 6 again. And yes, that should have been us.

But those are the breaks in a game. We copped a shocker with the Whitehead knock on and defended it. The Raiders copped the 6 again shocker and couldn't defend 90m.

As I said before, the Raiders played an awesome game but it just wasn't awesome enough to beat the best team of the modern era. What cost them on their side was Tapine turning his back in D, BJ not passing and BJ being lazy at marker. But that's the thing against this Roosters side, you've gotta be near perfect for 80 minutes to win the big games; or at least have no critical errors of which the Raiders had 2 or 3.

And for the Raiders going forward they can't afford a victim mentality. They have all the tools to go one better but that's dependent on them acknowledging where THEY went wrong, not the refs, and dedicating themselves to getting better. I'm backing Ricky to do just that.

Oppositely the Roosters were awesome. Well actually we didn't play our best game in attack but we displayed the qualities that only the rarest of championship teams display - incredible and unrelenting commitment in defence and a never say die attitude.

And then just like Ali against the ropes, we hit the Raiders with a phenomenal counterpunch at the biggest moment of the season that only a world class team can produce.

My point being that anyone who seriously thinks the Raiders were "robbed", or the Roosters were "gifted" an "asterisk" Premeirship, well you're absolutely deluded and hysterical.

In fact may I suggest you buy some anti chafing ass cream in bulk; because with the hot summer months ahead you're going to need to apply liberally and regularly to treat your epic butthurt in the months ahead.

haha

Raiders fans were cocky for the entire second half?

I’m calling absolute bullshit. No way Canberra fans would be cocky. They were never ahead, and had waited almost 30 years to be back in the GF.

To Roosters fans- a team which is behind all game, in a GF they haven't won for 25 years, in a game they are $3.40 underdogs in is too close to overcoming all their privilege that it seems cocky. How dare they!

This is pretty much the argument that I’ve seen from Raiders fans. I’m yet to see any of them claiming that the call changed the result. (Although to be fair I stay off FB footy sites).

Gratz on the win. The Roosters deserved it. Great footy team.

Hope they’re shit next year.

Tbh it's neutrals having the biggest meltdowns

Cricket World Cup all over again, Aussies and Indians outraged just coz they didn't get to see the Poms lose, Kiwis pretty reasonable about it all

I dont think BJ was lazy at marker, he made a legs tackle and the reality of today's game, great legs tackles are a win for the offence. Cordner knew it and got a really quick play the ball, Keary attacked the weakness. I dont think you can blame BJ for that. That's just really good, smart footy by a damn good team.

Other than that, every word in this post is 100% spot on.

No one criticised them for being cocky. At that point of the game they probably had reason to be. I just described what it was like at the game.

I call absolute bullshit on that
There isn’t a raiders fan alive, not one who’s lived through the shit this club has served up who would have ever been cocky about that game

real raiders fans would have been shitting themselves waiting for the floor to drop out if we were up 14 points with 5 minutes left

I was also at the game btw and surrounded by raiders fans... not a single one of them ever looked anything by extremely anxious

In a crowd of 83000 of which 58000 (70%) were supposedly raiders fans not one of them was cocky. Ok then. Maybe the people around us were all just so nervous that it manifested itself as cockiness.
