Vanuatu South Sea Tour Kicks Off

The Vanuatu-South Sea Invitational tour will officially kick off this Thursday (21st February), with the core travel group, which consists of current national team players Kunro Kalo, Patrick August, Jason Pakoasongi and Kalpat Kalmar, departing their training base on the Sunshine Coast (Queensland) and heading north for the 12 day tour.

Poland Rugby League – Crowd funding to support development!

Rugby League in Poland has existed for a little over two years yet in that short period of time a dedicated workforce of volunteers have made serious strides in introducing a sport to a nation which had little or knowledge of the 13-a side game.

Surely it would be better for them to attempt to start a second Polish team rather than pay these ridiculous costs for a couple of one-off matches every year?

Festival of World Cups

2013 is shaping up to be a huge year for Rugby League internationally. Not only do we have the first grade world cup for the men, but there are five other world cups being played as well: Women’s, Wheelchair, Students, Armed Forces and Police Forces. Though there is a website (see here) it seems that they get a small showing on the various media outlets and as always we down play them. So here is a summary so far of the five other Rugby League World Cups being played in 2013!

Season Start

So after a long break, where well I just needed to recharge and also my regular job got really intense and busy, I am finally able to came back and start writing about the sport I love once more. I’d like to just say a thanks to everyone that did write to me seeing if everything was OK and its nice to know that RLIS is appreciated. But probably by the end of the year there will be changes, but more on that later. So lets get into things. I will start locally here in the USA with the first post.

Tourist impressed with Rugby League development in San Narciso, Zambales!!!

Tom and Marlyn Simpson were supposed to have retired to La Paz beach in San Narciso, Zambales. But instead they’ve been laying the foundations for Rugby League the “Greatest Game of All” at this picturesque fishing town in the Philippines.

It is, right now I think seeing any growth is good. Initial steps are always tough and many countries fail before getting anywhere.

Sweden claim historic win in the Nordic Cup

The Nordic cup opener for 2013 saw competition underdogs upset the current champions. Sweden, who are usually on the receiving end of early points were turning the tables this time. While keeping possession for what felt like 20 minutes they racked up a comfortable 20 nil score line. Tim Bolton crossed the line after five minutes which cemented some confidence in the team. The experienced captain for the day, Fabian Wikander, and man of the match, converted the 4 to 6 and went on to score two tries of his own and to kick a further 6/7.

Reggae Warriors fall to Canada in Rugby League

Canada Wolverines stopped Jamaica Reggae Warriors 38-14 in a hotly contested international game at the Lamport Stadium in Toronto on Saturday, July 20. The teams battled before 5788 fans for the Caribbean Carnival Cup in its third instalment.

THE LIONS ROAR AGAIN
