The rain delay in Adelaide means that the dinner break of the cricket will coincide with the start of the Final. That will help the ratings.

An extremely embarassing crowd. I can even hear the odd echo sound that emanates out of a stadium when not many are there! This is painful for me to view and I think of all the people who will take liberty in ridiculing rugby league as time goes on. The pricing policy has proved to be disastrous and this was discussed thoughout this tournament. Now we see its ultimate product. An embarassing show of empty seats throughout the stadium. Wonder how sports fans will regard rugby league after this poor showing in attendance for a clearly overpriced event!

An enthralling cup final! It should rate very well despite the clash on tv with the Ashes cricket. Shame the empty seats were so noticeable. Thankfully the game aimed up unlike the organisers!

A lot of the reason for no one turning until just before kickoff is that stupid grass growing period when players warm up on the pitch.

WRL match finished at 6:40 Men didnt kickoff till 8:00pm

People just stay in the pub outside of the ground

Agreed. I was genuinely surprised by the poor Brisbane turn out... turns out Qlders don't really support Australian Rugby League, just Queensland. Seriously, how often do you get the chance to attend a World Cup final at home against England? You get Origin every bloody year and yet turn out for that and not the WC Final? Very embarrassing..

We agree. The exhorbitant price of tickets was a major factor. It was totally a misread of the market and should have been much cheaper priced. This was mentioned at the start of the tournament and the marketing people continued the exhorbitant pricing. Rugby league is trying to grow the game internationally and it should be offering attractive ticket prices to gain maximum attendances. This gives the game a positive look in the eyes of the general public. Instead we are using pricing and poor venue allocations as excuses for some poor attendances. The players did not deserve the half full houses. They were great! Shame on the organisers!

around a million in the metros , beating the cricket
so around 1.6 Million nationally
the cricket obviously hurt us tremendously , but that figure is utter crap to be honest
less then half of the figure of 2008

it should have been on Friday Night , a far better night for ratings & with clean air
it would have got well over 2 Million if it had been played the night before

The final should have been in Brisbane last week catching touring Poms at cricket.

And semis and final. No quarter finals.

Loved it otherwise.

Agree, the cricket has hurt us over the past couple weeks but part of me is like, should the rlif (who organizes the WC) bow down to a 2 country comp? Ideally in hindsight, the WC would of been better to start 2 weeks earlier to save the clash. Especially with England playing in the final. Alternatively, there would of been plenty on here complaining that the rlif shouldn’t be dictated to by the ashes series. Who’s comp had the dates out the earliest?

Tend to agree with Friday night tv timing this time. A day/night Ashes cricket test is not ideal to be splitting the audience with. Could have had last weekends games on Friday and Saturday . And a more focused build up in the media which did not happen for a strange and puzzling reason?! Once again the ticket prices were unnattractive!
