RLWC2017 Crowd Watch

Then why does the Channel 7 banner in morningstar's post say nearly 50,000 expected?

Talking it up! It's wiser to mention approaching 50000 than a lesser figure. People get a positive perception that something worth going to is to happen. Not the embarrassment the game has actually endured to those that are in the know.

Still a crap load of seats behind the posts.

I can predict the high price advocates saying things like "it still looked good" etc after the game. Their tirade earlier reflects their smiling assassin approach to this topic. Ticket prices have been a major issue for many major matches of this tournament. The crowds reflect this. Poor placement of games was another issue leading to poor attendances. Like I have said b4 thankfully the football has not let anyone down and the tv ratings were impressive.

No amount of cheap tickets is going to make up for the sht Australian Support for the game at the moment

Throw in an nrl administration that has failed to meet every major strategic plan target and is it surprising we haven’t met the goals for rlwc2017?

Maybe they should have taken the guaranteed $10mill from South Africa?

What a joke that we can't leverage the Broncos memberships, Maroons and throw in Titans and other clubs in SEQLD and sell just 50,000.

We should audit every club to see what they actually did on social media and email.

Why?

It’s unfortunate but its not on the clubs to have to push the WC. International comps can’t have it both ways, taking the players away from the clubs and then saying tough titties if the same players get injured by not compensating the clubs.

I am all for international RL and went to the only game I was in Brisbane for, but I think everyone involved (RLIF, NRL, clubs, Oz fans) needs to sort their shit out. It was heartbreaking being at Suncorp last week to see 22k for an Oz game (semi final none the less). I would have expected 35-40k (NZ or England for a packed house)

I just had a look at the ticket sales map and there seems to be 6 empty bays behind the posts they are asking $91.00 for the worst seats in the house..

They need to give those tickets away today to save embarrassment. .

Andrew Hill is now saying they probably won’t pass the $6.6million profit the last World Cup made due to the costs of staging the women’s World Cup in conjunction with the men’s.

Apologies if discussed elsewhere in forum ....but am i correct in thinking the last Australia v GB or England game in Brisbane was Tri Nations 2006 ? GB had beaten Australia in Sydney a couple of weeks earlier.

What about the accomodation costs for the women teams who covers those costs?
So before the WC started it was a guaranteed $7M profit and now it's less than that? Someone needs to account for the shortfall. Fecking embarrassing if they record a profit less than 2013.

Again I refer to the original organiser of this RLWC before Hill, who left midstream.Sounds as though he stuffed up on his costing and estimates.

That's the concession price: $127 for adults

I've been watching tickettek all week. The Cat C have sold ok, the Cat B trickled out. I don't think I saw a Cat A go all week.

At this stage I don't care if they give tix away, just fill the bloody thing. Hell, round up the homeless, put 'em behind the posts and shout them a hot dog, chips and a coke. Let's just get this over and done with. Thanks to the general media for your disdain of IRL... :rage:

Will be interesting how they sell the Lions tour in 2019. I suppose it fits in how the media want IRL to be. None of these pesky nations like France and the US hey..??

it'll be the height of embarrasment for whats been a pretty embarrasing tournament if we can't get the fullhouse sign up for tonight, or anything even near that , which looks highly likely
Australia V England should stir the blood in any sporting contest between the 2 nations & certainly rugby league for a world cup final in a rugby league stronghold like Brisbane
Yeah , Australia is going to win & probably quite easily
Yeah the tickets are on the pricey side
Still Its very disappointing & disheartening.

we don't get a world cup back here til 2029 & in my opinion unless Australians show a lot more passion for the international game between now & then
I wouldn't play it here
& wouldn't play a world cup here ever again !!
its nothing less then we deserve after this tournament
