I know you mean the tournament ko but it’s 7 weeks until the final. That doesn’t seem like a bad figure at all.

Once it kicks off and it's on the telly people will realise there's a world cup on....take the 2013 world cup....eng v ire didn't really sell until the comp the come kicked off...then the week of the game it was like....hang on??it's gonna sell out this....then 24,000 turned up on match day..

We need to realise not every RL fan is as on it as we are..... but they'll show up at short notice.

The Eng vs Ire game was pretty much sold out before the tournament started Spud.

In fact, it sold out before it started:

Seemed like more.

Supposedly 560,000+ viewers online. Seems like a lot but maybe with PNG playing..

The live stream had about 4k viewers at its peak because it had a view count in the corner. It was broadcast on Fijian and PNG tv though so maybe they're counting those numbers.

Possibly. If it's true it's a good number. Imagine if they'd shown it in Australia. Even if it was only on Fox.

That's pretty decent numbers even if it was being shown on TV. Shows the potential of the game and why we need more internationals.

I've only bought tickets to the opener the other games I will buy later when I confirm who to go with. Pretty excited the last World Cup in Australia had little build up and the pool games were hardly marketed.

A quick scroll through all the games last night and to me the sales look ok, all the bays available for each game appear to be at least half full with many almost totally sold. It appears that the SFS games haven't opened the top tiers, not sure what is happening at Canberra as there is 1 bay almost sold out in the top tier but the rest are unavailable. The first game in Melbourne appears to have sold at least 3/4 of available tickets, again not sure whats going on with the top tier not available, would be a little embarrassing to have an entire section of a stadium empty for the opener. Is there anything happening in Melbourne next week to help build up the opener, player appearances in Federation Square or something like that?

Eastern Stand now completely sold out for the PNG v Wales game, leaving only the Western Wings for the first game in Port Moresby (1,881 tickets currently remaining).

For New Zealand v Samoa, the limited Category B tickets are now sold out. For Category A, of the 11 Bays still on sale, only four have more than single / double seats, with three of these now around 70% full.

For Category C, all the Lower Southern is technically sold out, middle bay of the Upper Southern is full (well for what was released, the back 12 or so rows haven't been released), corner bays on the Grandstand are now almost full.

For the Barlow Park Double Header, between the Main Granstand (1,700) and the temporary Grandstand (2,500), we are sitting at around 3,700 of the possible 4,200 seats sold. The GA section between the two stands also appears to be full now as well, so this game is looking very healthy.

For Townsville, the Western Grandstand is pretty much gone now, outside of a few hundred tickets (2,435 total capacity), meanwhile in the Eastern Stand, Bays 117, 118, 119 & 120 are either sold out or pretty much gone, with significant sales into 115 and 123. So arguably we're looking at about 3,600ish allocated now for this game (although we have limited visibility for Townsville around free / taken seats).

For Canberra, it's hard to get a true read on how much has been sold, because for many Bays they were either originally selling every second row, or held back parts, but from what I can see, there has been some significant sales into the Cat 1 and Cat 2 Bays at the venue.

Some good signs for some of the games there. Why the hell isn't Melbourne sold out already? I checked a couple of times and they haven't even opened one stand yet WTF! They were originally talking about the MCG for this and that is where they should have gone with tickets at $20, $30 and $40 with an aim of getting 50-60k. AAMI is a lazy choice and ticket prices at $140 is pushing it. If you have a modest stadium, not much bigger than Wigan, with a stand closed off it will look shambolic.
