Very encouraging signs from New Zealand in the regard. $10 tickets for Category C is a clear winner. Hopefully there is a biiiiiig push this week and walk up to get the crowd to 15,000 plus.

Perhaps the Pacific Islander community & the Lebanese may be the same, that there is a culture of just going to the stadium on the day & paying at the gate?

I feel we can raise the expectations for the Kiwis v Samoa game now. Based upon the recent sales trend plus the likelihood of a solid walk up (be nice if we don't have to rely on it), this game surely has to get 20K+ now.

Hopefully Samoa record a big win against the CRL U23s tonight just to continue to drive excitement around this one.

Weather will play a big part on the walk up crowd....

Also less the whole players pulling out of the Kiwis side, media coverage has been next to nothing. I believe the Kiwis don't assemble till next week so you would expect the media coverage to pick up substantially then for the RLWC in NZ.

To be honest Samoa were in control against the 23's, but I wouldn't say it was overly impressive, the kids started to click in the last 15 and score at will on the Samoans , did they switch off ? Who knows, but I'm not sure it's a great result for ticket sales .

I just was looking for tickets online for the Townsville game and noticed the France v Lebanon game has sold out!

If true it’s a master stroke holding this game in Canberra.

hahahahaha
how many beers did you have before looking ?

there was a crowd of 9287 for the Scotland V France game in 2008 in Canberra
but it was the only game played here

Id expect something similar for the 2 non Australian games
& double that for Australia V France

Crowds werent much to shout about in 2008
7th place play off 5,900 at Rockhampton
9th place playoff 8,028 Sydney
SF qualifier 8,224 on Gold Coast
SF1 26,659 Brisbane
SF2 15,855 Sydney.

Final was full in Brisbane 50,599
In 2008 only one game was played away from the east coast heartlands. This tournament is far far more ambitious in its venue spread.

Of course the tournament was notable for Australia's humiliation at the hands of the kiwis and the subsequent end of Ricky's rep coaching career after he had to resign following his abuse of the refs the next day.

Australia V England in Melbourne got over 36K
Australia V NZ in Sydney , the opener .. got over 34K

the entire tournaments 18 games attracted 293.5K at 16,302 a game

Extra bays opened up at Allianz / SFS, Townsville and Hamilton over the past few days in addition to what already been commented on for Mt Smart.

Running an eye over Ticketek again for the First Week's games (I may or may not be doing this this every day):

Aus v Eng - On track to sell out methinks. I think we can assume that the Upper Western is reserved for corporates/whatever as it has not ever been on public sale.
PNG v Wal - Ditto.
NZ v Sam - Will be the best 'surprise' crowd for the round. As @yakstorm has pointed out, most of the Bays have gone on sale and have been selling pretty well.
Fiji v USA - Really hard to get a gauge, Townsville Stadium has always been weird.
FRA v lebanese - Most of the Lower Bowl is open for purchase, will probably be one the lower side. Can we invite the entire French and Lebanese Embassy?
Scot v Tong & Ita v Ireland - Double Header - Grandstand has sold out, take your best guess with the hills.

Great numbers for canberra aus v france this far out.

Melbourne bays still not opened. Surely I'm not the only one holding off buying tickets. I want to buy 4 tix but not at $140 a pop.

Which Bays are you after in Melbourne? All the Bays are either Open/or sold out?

The prices are good so can't complain. $45 family ticket for each match. Expected the Australia v France to be a bit steeper.
