The argument on this blog has been that Sydney has a large population from Lebanon and dressing up a group of NRL/NYC players as the "Lebanese National Team" will somehow inspire an outbreak of Lebanese Nationalism and large attendance.
The fallacy of this argument, as shown by the last 40 years, is that Lebanon is an artificial post-colonial state with no national spirit. The Lebanese in Sydney identify more with their religion and the Bulldogs than with "Lebanon"
Now if we had a Maronite vs Shi'ite game we might get a crowd

A lot of lebanese fans. Hopefully after a half decent showing they all come back next week. And with a few more.

No neutral Rugby League fans tonight. Lots of Lebanese, lots of English.

Where are the Australian Rugby League fans? Are there any?

Seriously I am going to get ripped apart....but...

Why would Australia fans pay to go watch England vs a majority based part-time Australian side....

your dead right, that's how the Aussies think. It's a snobby mentality, they are spoiled used to seeing the best week in week out. but that logic is what will keep us stuck and we won't grow. Australia's have it all back to front in my opinion.

Me! I was there! With my five mates! nd even though only 10,000 there, the atmosphere was great: sounded like 40,000!
It really didn't. It was pretty flat in the second half. Was more exciting walking into the ground then being in it.

It's interesting people were concerned about the Nz crowds before the comp, now it's switched and it's Australia that's the problem .

So 4 games into the round and we've avoided any crowds sub-10K so far.

Port Moresby will be a safe 14K plus, with only 260 tickets left, leaving Townsville as the make or break venue.

Based upon what is available on Ticketek, the DH looks to be selling significantly better than Fiji v USA, however who knows whether that will translate into a crowd of 10K+

Tonga vs Kiwis will be a good crowd...but there is still a lot of work to be done for both quarter finals and the Semi for NZ.

I can see the Christchurch quarter final being the only NZ crowd not to get over 10,000
